    Hello Chev! :hello:

How strange we should both pop in here at around the same time after long absence from MSE Diary-World. Serendipity

I sold the family home too.. Did replace it; Divo Four and a lovely group of housemates live in the new house - I have a room but spend most of my time in the motor-home [much easier with everything I need within five paces]. Am a lot more disabled now, alas. Sorry to hear that Robin. Do you still have your lovely four legged companion?

A banana* is pretty instant first aid for muscle cramps, and/or massage the cramping area with magnesium oil. *Sounds daft but works!
Do hope your Mum gets through the post-op period quickly and soon feels the benefit of her new knee. She is taking magnesium and eats a large banana every day. I am kind of worried that she may have some rubbing where it shouldn't, but have no way of sorting this out before I go.

How long will you be staying in Blighty - have you still got a vote?
I unfortunately fly out on Monday and yes I just have the vote and will definitely be using it. I hope all your four divos are registered.

Nice to 'see' you again Robin, take care

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Chev! Lovely to hear from you. Weirdly enough, I had a peep at your profile just a week or so ago and saw you hadn't signed in for ages - and now here you are :)I now work full time in New Zealand so less time to pop on here.

Mr Happy had a knee replacement a couple of years ago. It was VERY painful for about 6-8 weeks afterwards, to the point where he went back to the hospital to check that his level of pain was normal. Apparently it was. He was given codeine along with his paracetamol and he also took ibuprofen in between doses. Night times were the worst because it was better when he was moving the joint. When the pain started to ease though, it eased quickly and now he is 100% pleased he had it done. It has made such a difference to him and he can walk for miles now. Everything crossed that your mum feels the benefit quickly. Thanks Happy that is a bit reassuring. Neither of us know anything about it really as we don't know anyone who has had a knee replacement. Unfortuantely she can't take ibuprofen so is relying on paracetamol and icepacks

I suppose that now your house is sold you've accepted NZ as your permanent home. The boys definitely will I assume, having done much of their growing up there. I hope you manage to find some free time to relax and enjoy being back in England for a while. Sorry about the cold weather!

Yes they will see their home as new zealand. Coming back this time has made me realise that this isn't my home any more. So many things to do with beauracracy I don't know how it works any more. Like the NHS etc. It is so fragmented now.

I fly back to sunny weather on Monday. I am looking forward to seeing everyone whilst at the same time being a bit terrified of leaving my mum on her own. But I can't do anything else. Just hope my step sibling pulls their socks up and comes and helps her out.
    thanks for stopping by

Gosh, that is a flying visit! Fingers crossed that your sibling is able to help Mum after you've gone.

Clever Dog crossed Rainbow Bridge following a stroke, just short of her seventeenth birthday. I still miss her, and got very sick after she died - wasn't walking enough to maintain cardiac function. Then, a couple of months later there was a FB post from a volunteer at one of the rescue centres I support. She was desperately trying to find places for ten dogs who were left in a kill shelter with less than two days before sacrifice.. Nine of them were looking hopefully at the camera in their 'photos, but the tenth had completely shut down in despair; head jammed into the back corner of his pen, tail between legs.
"He hasn't got a chance!" I thought, "am no where near ready for another dog but if I don't take him, nobody else will.." So next day Gardener went to collect him for me.
It was probably the best decision I've made since DH died.. There will be lots more about Musketeer in my diary, if you're interested - it's quite a story!

Yes, I'm hanging on in the UK to vote, three of the Divos will be too, [DS2 is now a Spanish citizen, so he can't].

Travel safe Chev, I hope you get time to pop in again here, occasionally. :)
