    note- there is a firm called Sure that also listed at No.20 - maybe related to a firm that rents (or used to?) office space around Brighton, on short term deals..
    Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

    Definite scam. No maybe about it.

    Anyone who has been scammed should contact their bank and the police.

    Don't mess about waiting for the promised delivery.

    Those letters which people have received are all part of the scam.

  • I'm one of the lucky ones, I asked for a refund within 30mins of the order on 06 June 2008 after being horrified at the comments on Hot UK Deals (a site I use a lot). I got the refund through on wednesday 11 June 2008 for 3 Wii Fits.

    For all the boast about Security, did Protx not think it was a little funny that a company was using the Copyrighted name of a big firm when it approved this site. I bet if some had used SageDirect, Sage would be on it like a shot and Protx would never have approved the company.

    In Addition, they new quite early there was a possible problem. I was one of many that emailed to confirm that they could not get me actual card details.

    I emailed them on the 10/06/08 and they obviously did nothing. I think Protx has some element of blame for continuing to take money after this point.

    [FONT=Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]Dear Gordon,

    Thank you for your email.

    While you were making your payment to Zavvi Direct you would have been directed on to a Protx Payment Page. This means that your card details have been captured on the Protx servers. At no stage will Zavvi Direct have access to your full card details.

    For further information, please see the accreditation section of our website;

    Kind Regards

    When I make a payment through Protx, does the supplier get my full
    credit card details, or does he just get the money (like Paypal)?

    The reason I'm asking is that there is a site Zavvi Direct Ltd that has
    been flagged as a possible Scam site & I used your site to pay him.

    If the credit card details are handed over, I am going to swap the card.

    Thanks

  • I ordered mine on 13.6.08, 3 days after the above email was sent to protx so they obviously did not take any notice of the alert to a possible scam. When I phoned them last week after the zavvidirect website was removed they told me it was a genuine company and they had been assured the orders would be honoured. I phoned again a few days ago and they still seem to be under the impression that they are a genuine company. You'd think they'd check out any companies they process payments for.

    I agree. I will be interested in its comments when the scam is fully confirmed.

    Just sent this to Protx.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply. I have sent over 15 emails to the company asking for confirmation or a refund unfortunately I have no reply and the telephone number they have supplied is constantly engaged.

    I am aware by reading various internet forums Protx state this company are genuine and we should await the delivery of the ordered goods. However if this is a scam then both Protx and the consumers have been subject to fraud by false representation. I hold my hands up and say I was taken in however I like many other customers ordered from the Zavvi-direct site due to the fact our purchase could be facilitated through a secure third party.

    Please can you contact this company and enquire where our refunds or goods are?
  • Protx just dont want to know - i emailed them yesterday saying that i could not get in touch with zavvidirect and that they did not answer phones etc - i wanted confirmation that my card details were not passed on - all i got back was an automated email asking me to contact zavvidirect? and if i could not get hold of them to email all the details I already provided. I did this and asked for them to let me know if they managed to contact zavvi and that i thought it was appauling that they continued to process payments despite complaints - so far i have had no reply

    I think protx have to take some of the blame here, they were processing payments for a company that has exisited for a couple of months and which appears to have honoured none of its orders

    theres no way we are going to be seeing any wii fits if it was a legit company surely they would have emailed or sent letters reassuring us - i just hope the !!!!!!!s behind this get caught
  • Still trying to get through to ZAVVI but line is engaged. GUTTED at being taken for a ride. If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.................

  • Personally I hold Protx responsible for this farce. They should have made sure this company was legit before offering their services.

    To open a savings account at any high street bank you have to take plenty of ID to prove who you are, and you have to show you live at that address. In fact you can't even get a library book without lots of proof. And yet these scumbags can just open open up an account with fictitious details and no-one at Protx has obviously bothered to check them out.

    It's my personal opinion that Protx should be made to compensate all of us that has been scammed by this bunch of toe-rags. By doing so companies like Protx will take more care in the future.

    Trading standards are a complete waste of time. That department should closed down because they a complete waste of council tax payers money.

    The police treat these types of crime as category 3. In other words a speeding offense or parking ticket takes more priority over those of us that have just been scammed.

    When I realised I had been taken for £69.99 I called Sussex police. The reason I called them is the contact address details of the scammers are in Sussex. I was then informed I should contact the Bexleyheath Police because that's the area I live. After a few minutes arguing with the idiot on the phone he eventually could understand that the criminals were more likely to be in Brighton than in Bexleyheath.

    All more than a bit worrying.

    Best regards,
