I was advised by my bank (Natwest) that this company is a fraudulent company, unfortunately they will not/cannot refund my money

As a matter of interest, will they not refund because it was a debit card, or because it is a credit card but under £100? Policy on the latter seems to vary, I guess according to the small print on the T&C for the particular card.

    Hi Tim,

Apparently as I used my card in all good faith, then they will not refund the money. I explained to them that I have contacted the police and that I have tried to contact Zavvi-Direct but they werent interested, apparently i m not the first person who has reported Zavvi Direct to Natwest, doubt I will be the last. Surely there must be something we can all do, I emailed protx who said that they would only deal with someone with a vendor account and that should be want a refund, to contact the person who has taken the money. Isnt that what we are all trying to do? Starting to think company has gone off with all our money and we will all be left with nothing! last time i use the net to buy something, as it doesnt seem that we as the customers are protected by the banks at all

    Debit card or credit card?

As I understand it, a debit card is like paying cash, so no recourse. A credit card the bank is jointly liable, but only for sums £100 up; however some cards have additional protection.

I paid by Direct card unfortunately, also have just been onto protx who said they would not be the ones that would give the refunds, that the company has up to 21 days to honour the orders and that they have spoken to zavvi-direct who said that everyone that has ordered a wii fir will receive one, and that the refunds were going through on saturday (apparently he could give me this information but not anything further or refund the money)

so maybe protx are in on this scam? sounds fishy to me all of it, I took his name for my reference and told him i would be back to protx if i did not receive order as promised.

getting more annoyed as we speak as no one seems to be interested in helping

The Saturday just gone, or next Saturday?

I doubt Protx is deliberately misleading people though frankly I think it could have caught this earlier, presuming it is a fraud.

I'd like to think it could all come good, but it just does not make sense. Leaving aside Dinah's research, for which we only have her word, there are more than enough odd features about the Zavvi Direct operation to suggest it is not a normal retailer.

Protx is a division of Sage (UK) Ltd, quite a significant and respected company. In fact, if ZD proves to have been a fraudulent operation, it might be worth pressing them on the point of whether it should have picked this up sooner.

found this link, re zd's address at 20 old steine- all the offices are included, to let with a local agency.. (not the building i thought it was, further around..) sounds like one of many 'drop box' (care of) addresses, maybe accountant/lawyers office used as registered office to deter visitirs.. would hardly consider it a centre of comerce..

  • Hi there everyone, just found this on the net. I purchased a wii fit on 9th june for £59-99. I too recieved a rather posh letter from them about 10 days ago stating that the item would in stock on the 20th and to expect within 4-5 days. Obviously I have recieved nothing, like everyone else. Im just a bit unsure of what to do now... Im only a 30 min drive from brighton so was considering going to see if there is a 'company' there.

Maybe those of you with letters should keep them protected and pass them on to the police?
Perhaps I've been watching too much CSI but there might be something useful on them to help the investigation?
