Online Scam Website Wii Fit (zavvi impersonation)

My brother ordered me a wii fit on 6th June from Zavvi Direct, he received a letter on the 12th saying they were out of stock but they were being delivered to the warehouse on 20th, and we should receive it in 4 - 5 days after. It didnt arrive so we tried to contact them by phone on 30th but the phone was constantly engaged, when we finally did get through it just kept ringing and ringing. The website has now been closed due to copyright fraud.

There are lots of forums discussing this site and from what i can gather so far nobody has received their goods.

My other bro works for the CID and he suggests you notify your bank immediatly, and keep any correspondance / documentation you have from this company as proof.

I'm going to contact sussex police tomorrow to see if they are aware of this scammer! Maybe you should do the same...

One thing's for certain this scam has taught me a £69.99 lesson.

i'm told by my bank that payments made to zavvi via maestro card will most definately not be given a refund, even though they are fully aware of the situation with zavvi being investigated by the police.

are other people who paid using maestro finding the same?

I went to my bank and was told similar (regarding maestro), they advised to cancel the card and put it down to experience. I've cancelled the card since but checked my account this week and discovered that £69.99 had been refunded. I feel i've been very lucky on this one, and even though the full amount has been refunded, I'm still relieved i've cancelled my card details as these fraudsters could easily take money out at on a different date.

I will always use a mastercard from now on when ordering online.

Thanks for the help from this forum l received a letter today from coop bank for recredited £69.99 on 02-07-08 to cover the sum of the fraudulent transactions . Also they said guarante our fight against fraud is ongoing . And lucky checked wii fit stock 2 days ago ordered some on gamestation , receive today .l 'm happy man also my son been waiting so long. Thank you very much , hope everyone get back refund and find wii fit in stock.

How long did it take for coop to give you the refund? I am also with coop.

Just wandered if there was anyone who has received a refund from Halifax? I have filled in a Debit Card Point of Sale Transaction Query form and have been waiting nearly a week but not heard anything. Very frustrating hope these criminals get caught.

i'm 1 of the lucky ones who was actually fobed off by natwest but the to my surprise recieved an automatic refund.
