Purplegirluk1 - I know it sounds a bit daft but could you use a normal hole punch??? I've got one of these - it punches holes in everything - belts, tin cans, chipboard, cds etc:

it also sets eyelets and gromets.
  • I think that would be perffect, but I don't have one *big sigh*, maybe a paper punch would work?

Scrapbooking ladies (and gents possibly) I have a scrapbooking question and cannot find an answer anywhere. I am making a mini book using a pre-made chipboard album. The problem is how do I neatly cut the holes in the cardstock so I can bind the book with the rings? I cannot think of a neat way but there must be something i'm not thinking of!

You need a cropodile or something similar - it punches through everything including chipboard, cds etc :) Most of the scrapbook/cardmaking stores have them for sale :) If you were wanting to spend a bit more you could go for the Bind it all which is purposefully to make minibooks etc as it does the ring binding at the ends :)

  • Sorry I meant just to go through the cardstock not the chipboard, I am just worried that it wont be neat and I am a bit of a neat freak.

If its just to go through cardstock etc then a hole punch would do or a chinese screw punch which doesnt need hitting with a hammer, you just kinda push down and it screws the hole in the paper :) I would think if you look on a scrapbooking/cardmaking store site under tools there should be something reasonably cheap that you could make work - once you have it you will use it lots hence i dont count tools as anything but essential spending! LOL :rotfl:

  • I did mine with a sharp pencil until I got a bind it all, but it is expensive if you won't use it often!

I pierced the paper through to the middle, and then through to the middle from the other side, too, so the paper was bent inwards. Then when the book thing was through it looked fine...maybe not perfect if you are a neat freak, though. Paper punches do work, but it takes a bit of work to get it in the right place!

This thread is sadly underused :(. I bet there's quite a few scrapbookers out there! Come forward and show us what you've done! Let's revive this thread a bit! Talk about scrapbooking too.... Motivate others to start... :j

We haven't seen a layout for a while either, so without further ado, here's one I made yesterday:

    and details:

How I made it is shown on my blog.

(Layout influenced by Melanie Marshall's excellent scrapbooks! :T)

Quiksave - your layout is fabulous - such beautiful colours too!! I haven't done a layout in ages - I got a bit disillusioned with mine - they never seemed to look as good as I wanted them too!!! I'm in the middle of making a mini book at the minute so I'll post some pics on here when its finished!!!

Thanks melissa. Maybe you could try again with the large layouts too? There's lots of good blogs and websites with great scrapbooking ideas. Look forward to seeing the mini book, I fancy doing one of those, altering an old board book.

  • Yay the thread is alive again :) I hope I don't kill it now (I have a habit of doing that to threads).

Can I re-ask my question - although Quiksaves latest page is just what I'm looking for
I'm struggling with ideas for using a single large photo (9x7 on a 12x12).

Anyone done pages like this that can share? I've been through loads of pencillines sketches but none are suitable so far.

I've googled and come up with 2 sketches. But I'm going to need more ideas for my wedding album.
I've been following Dolly's 52 in 10 project. My latest two pages are (I give up - can't get the photo to show).
