Mellika - Didn't know if you were still interested in finding out more about chalks, but http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=584 has a little information on it if it's of any use*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0

S_michaels - if you look at any scrapbooking website all of the papers, stickers etc should be acid free. I was just mentioning it because you said you might try and make the actual scrapbook yourself. How much did you want to spend, and what sort of colours were you thinking of using?0
-
Well all kinds of colours to be honest and as little as possible. My mum doesn't like me spending money on her but I wanted to do something special for her 50th.
I did a pencil drawing of my brother, my nephew and I for my dad's 50th, which my mum also got a copy of (they are divorced)
So I just wanted to do something to top that.
I work in a printing shop and I have loads of craft bits anyway, but I don't know if any of it is acid free.
I am only 21 on a low wage living on my own so money is a bit tight at the moment. Otherwise I would spend £100's of pounds on her as she is worth every penny*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0 -
You could do a little paperbag album, they are really cheap to make. Did you see pics of mine a few pages back??? A lot of people make these although the bags aren't acid free, but that doesn't bother me as I'm sure normal photo albums aren't anyway.0

Here's the link for the peabody kit:
http://www.wigan-craft-supplies.com/KitsAndPacks.htm
its 12.99 plus postage of 2.95, is that too much?? The good thing with this is that you'd only need some adhesive and photos and that's all.0 -
thanks melissa I will check it out
How do you know if paper is acid free? I bought loads of cheap wrapping paper that I thought would be great to use, but now I am slightly worried.
I don't think my mum would mind if the pictures weren't actual photos as she loves anything I make. Plus I'm having to pinch photos from other people and at least this way they get them back.
I have a lot of sketchbooks and canvases from when I was doing art at college, do you think they'd be any good?
Trying to use up what I have before I go buy stuff
Oh and I have saved the link to that website as If I can't find a way of making one I will definately get one of those kits.*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0 -

Bunbun - no, its not come!!! Hopefully tomorrow!!
S_michaels, I would have thought all scrapbooking paper that you buy is acid free, I doubt that wrapping is though. Saying that (after scaring you) I don't know how long it takes for the photos to be affected - it might be decades!! I think they always say that if you're worried use copies of the photos not the originals.
Another thing you could make is a shadow box, its a frame but it is deep so its great for displaying photos and other 3d embellishments. They used to sell them in the Home Bargains for 1.99. Also I made my Mum a keepsake box for xmas - I just decorated a cardboard box and stuck a few flowers etc on it and it looked really pretty, I think she liked it.0 -
Saint_michaels - docrafts still have some of the papermania scrapbook kits in their sale for 4.99. Postage is 3.99 I think.

(HELP they've added a few more basic grey bits and bobs to the sale).0
