Hi, can I ask a really stupid question :o I want to get started on a scrapbook for my children, just sort of things as they happen if you like..anyway I do have a couple of packs I got from Hobbycraft (reduced) and they have a few 12x12 cards in them....Do I use them for the actual base of the page?and then add pics/emelishments etc on? and if so..how do I 'cover' it? I know this is a really silly question, but I just can't seem to work it out.....am temptede to buy a kit, but I have already been spending on craft stuff and can't really justify much more spends at the moment...

Any help would be really appreciated

Orchid - do you mean you have some 12x12 sheets of plain card instead of patterned paper? If so then yes, a lot of people use plain card as the base and then add their decorations to it. I am relatively new to scrapbooking so at the minute my pages are quite plain. I normally cut some cardstock and use it to mount my pics, then you cut tear or cuts bits of patterned paper and stick that onto your base, stick a few flowers on, or put a heading, there aren't any rules really, just add what you want.
JordanShannon - I'm glad you hadn't bought any of the grungeboard from the other site that I posted yesterday and managed to get it from creative treasures - it seems like a great bargain. I wouldn't know what to do with it.
Rainmac - have you seen some of the new basic grey collections - some of them are gorgeous, but there's no way I'd pay full price for them. I am in love with the marrakech, porcelain and I also like the granola ones.
  • Mel- PLM did a class for it on UKScrappers on our thrifty group, so i am going to be using it for that :D
