I caved in last night and ordered the 12x12 pack of two scoops, plus another 6x6 archaic pad - the papers are fab for boys pictures!!
You won't regret the two scoops pack, it's beautiful. Haven't looked at archaic very well but as it's by BG I'm sure to love it:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
rainmac - beginning to wish I'd ordered some now.............they are lovely.
Getting on well with foster daughters scrapbook..............coffee staining worked well = I did wonder as last time I had a go it didn't..............lol
Was good to loose myself in something like that - feels like its been an age since I did anything.
Need to make a start on my sons little one now. Think I'll do a few 'life quotes' that might apply to him.............not sure what to use as embellishments though.
What about natural things like pieces of string and shells?
My fave quote is: a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle (is also a line in a U2 song). Guess this is not exactly appropriate to put in your son's book:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
rainmac - there's some good quotes on the Quote Garden site.........seem to cover all subjects really.
Something natural for embellishments would be apt for him...........he lives by the sea and is keen on anything thats 'natural'. Not sure about shells - oh -just thought - among the stuff we brought back from mums there was a necklace made of the really tiny ones..........not something Mum would have bought. I'll have to think where I put it...............lol
Couldn't put anything too bulky on the inside pages as its a board book and wouldn't shut.
Only other idea I had was to put retro stuff in it..........he loves that sort of thing as wellMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Hi everyone, I am wanting to do a scrap book album of my mum's life ready for her 50th, exactly a year today hehe.
I am at a total loss on where to start, I would love to read through everyones posts when i get chance but was hoping someone would kindly direct me on where to get an album or how to make one as cheap as possible?
Am I right in thinking you can make them out of anything, do they need to be quite sturdy?*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0 -
Bunbun- I got my despatch email yesterday from the glitter pot, so I might get my papers today - fingers crossed!!
S_michaels - sounds like a great present for your Mum. It might be a little hard to make the actual scrapbook yourself. You have to be careful about what materials you use - everyone bangs on about them being "acid and lignin free" which means that your photos won't be damaged over time by chemicals in the paper.
If you're looking to buy the album the 12x12 size can be very expensive to buy, but there are other sizes too - 6x6, 8x8, I find these a lot easier to work with if you are a beginner. If you look through the last few pages of this thread there are a few links for some decent paper pads which would be the easiest way to go as all the papers match. Even easier would be to buy a scrapbook kit itself with everything included - scrapbook, papers and embellishments. A few pages back I posted a link for a K and Co peabody album kit which would be very suitable, their stuff is lovely quality too. It contained a scrapbook with patterned paper pages already inside so all you need to do is add your photos and decorations. If you need any help just ask!!0 -
thanks for the advice melissa75. I know the whole point of a scrap book is to display your photos, but If I can't get hold of all the acid free stuff would it be better for me to copy the photos and maybe laminate them?
I got a laminator for Christmas and I've not taken it out the box yet lol*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0
