Hi all - I am a newbie to this great website and forum - congrats on the success Martin!
I have a little confusion regarding the 'The UK’s Cheapest Providers' article.
Under the section 'The soultion in a nutshell' - the yellow box 'cheapest main (CPS) provider' martin states that the best one is 'primus'-'planet-talk.co.uk'
Yet later on in the article- and considerablly throughout this thread - people are recommending 'Justdial' instead of 'Primus/Planet-talk'
A)Is there a reason for this which i have missed?
B)Is it me - or is the website for primus not working at all?
Secondly - I am currently on the telewest package of tenpound line rental with twenty five pounds for *Four* MB download (free upgrades given to a large number of subscribers by blueyonder - I did not apply in any form for it).
c)Are there savings in changing from telewest to a saver BT phone line if i am to use the primus/jd cps - or not.
I.e can I get exactly the same results with the multiple-carrier strategy from my existing telewest line (with primus/JD added) - or do i need to change to the BT saver primus/JD structure to save even more?
Cheers guys and Happy New Year (belatedly!!!) :beer:0 -

Just Dial has been recommended for its free E&W calls and the fact that it has a 2hr call limit before you need to redial to keep it free. However their CS is abysmal and many have been unable to contact them at all when there is a problem. Also they have been bought over by Talk Talk so it will probably change.B)Is it me - or is the website for primus not working at all?
I can't get to the website either. It went down about this time last month too. Try again later. I'm with Primus and have had no problems at all. They answer emails promptly too!Secondly - I am currently on the telewest package of tenpound line rental with twenty five pounds for *Four* MB download (free upgrades given to a large number of subscribers by blueyonder - I did not apply in any form for it).

You will not be able to cps your calls unless you are with BT. You can use other low cost carriers like Call1899 but it odes cost more with a cable line than a BT line.0 -

I signed up a couple of weeks ago for this service and was told it was OK to use the overide numbers eg 1899 etc. However, after 3 mistakes on the paperwork before the line has actually been changed over, I now discover from the customer service team that under no circumstances will they allow overide numbers. I have cancelled my account.0

@RonnieK
Do you mean the Post office or JDS?

Doh!
I've just signed up from Kingston CPS to JDS for their free evening and weekend calls. They're supposed to take over my line on 1 Feb.
Having read the above, I relise I now need to change over to Primus Option 2.
Can I switch straight to Primus NOW, or do I have to wait untill the 1 Feb (i.e. I'm worried about the two services "clashing", or causing probs if I simply sign up for the Primus service so quickly after signing up for the JDS)?
Also, either way do I need to notify JDS that I'm cancelling the account, or do I simply dial up for the new account?
Thanks,
Jonny0
