Good evening all:hello:
The site wouldn't let me log in yesterday, so I could read but not post:rolleyes: I wouldn't mind but I never log out, just shutdown, so next time I'm in automatically. I wondered if DH who has used my laptop recently had logged me out, but he pleads innocence.
Well it seems as if tons of hugs are called for. Sorry for everyone's troubles. Betheebee, glad the funeral went as well as it could, a great tribute to your friend.
Anniestar and Haribo, hope your cats are both OK.
((smokybabe)) hope you're coping.
I've been busy with my sis-in-laws party, which went brilliantly. The weather was perfect and a fantastic time was had by all. And on Friday morning, she and her DH, my DH and me are off for a long weekend away together:j :j :T :T
I'm a tiny bit excited, can you tell:o And I don't even mind that I shall miss the footie ( well only a tiny bit;) )
OS wise, well I'm up to date with the washing. Cooking? Does new potatoes for the salads count:rotfl: Oh and I'm still making slow headway with the garden.
Haribo, we want to hear OS stuff:p That is what this board is about;)
I shall now get off and stop boring you to sleep, CM xYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Just a message for Anniestar-I agree with many others re a second opinion-in our case we went to a charity (the celia hammond one) as we were (and are) financially bereft.
We took our youngest cat to the emergency animal hospital in Wanstead last November,as our own Vet emergency line rang with no answer. We had found him collapsed on our doorstep, obviously in shock and unable to weightbear on his back legs. When we got to the vets the young spanish vet immediately started saying it was a heart problem and didn't even examine him. I was adament he was ijured,he is a pedigree who had had a checkup a couple of weeks before with no sign of any such heart problem. Then she said it was a blood clot blocking the flow to his leg, hence the inability to us it. She was already pushing us to euthanase him due to impending costs! I was furious and didn't really want to leave him,but it was 3am and he needed IV fluids,I persuaded her to give him a painkiller and prayed the day staff would be more on the ball.
Next day they xrayed and scanned him-no heart problem or clot, but a ruptured cruciated ligament! Luckily I had chatted with the vetinary nurse when I had phoned to check on him first thing, explained how concerned I was about the costs, and she rang me to tell me the current bill was £400 already, and that that practice always operated on cruciates-£1,000+. Knowing our situation she ref us on to the Celia Hammond centre in Canning town. I had to wait ages with him (he was drugged up and happy on his painkillers, bless him!) but the fantastic young vet there had already printed off all the info for me,proving that there is no better recovery for cats who are operated on for this injury than the ones just supported with supplements and painkillers-in both instances,8 weeks rest was needed. So we chose to take him home and rest him in a dog cage, just letting him out to walk but ensuring he didn't jump. He recovered 100%,despite us not having the op,and I have to say that I do feel very much that there are a lot of very young inexperienced vets around now, plus the advice is often guided by money.
I do hope your cat will be fine. They are like babies to us,aren't they?Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
Hello,

Haribo This is the OS board. So in future we want to hear your stuff. OK.
It inspires me to copy.
