AnnieStar, have you posted on the pets board. I'm sure I read a thread on there recently about a cat that had problems with its mouth, but was very hard to diagnose.
I do think that you need to see another vet if possible. (((hugs)))Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Annie, Hugs to you all, as twink said I think you need to get a second opinion, perhaps take her to another vet, seems that if she can eat ok whilst on the painkillers there MUST be a problem with her mouth, hugs xx0

squiggly- we want more third date details please

Well, I don't know about rich, but he's certainly doing ok for himself...
Owns a nice house (about 500 yards down the road from me!), caravan in hampshire/west sussex, got a jaguar, 3 good motorbikes, and a work van...
Didn't manage tea this morning as the meeting he was going to got brought forward a bit & he said on the phone he didn't want to have a 'rush date', but wanted time to enjoy...!!!!!!!!!! He's obviously trying to make the most of me before I go to grayshott next week, lol!! It's very flattering though, and I do find myself walking around with a silly grin at the moment... I will of course keep you all updated with the gory details
(((((((candygirl, anniestar, betheebee, smokey)))))) and all those others needing them.
Janny, hope you are feeling less stressed now you've finished that essay. Try and give yourself a little treat before you start the next one.
RMac, hope you feel better soon... CharliesMum, well done with the dieting! :T
Anniestar, I think I would be inclined to go to a different vets if possible and see what they say. I'd also be writing a letter to the current vets & say how disappointed you were with their reaction to a perfectly reasonable query, especially when you were already very distressed.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Hi everyone
Annistar - huge hugs to you and Phoebe.
I would try and contact the vet again and speak to him/her directly so that your concerns are being passed on properly, going through a third party (nurse) who is rather defensive may mean that the message isn`t being carried forward in the way in which it`s meant.
If you live close enough then go to visit the vet in person and leave Phoebe at home so that you can have a good chat.
You know Phoebe and as you are around her all the time you pick up on things - just as you have with the pain killing injections and her eating, the vet won`t see or know this yet so is basing any advice given on what his equipment is telling him. Now that you know what is making a difference to Phoebe the vet should be listening and taking this into consideration and going through a third party who has taken on a defensive stance really isn`t in poor Phoebes best interests.
If you don`t get anywhere with the vet take her to another one for a second opinion, we did this with one of ours a while ago (good job that we did) and we had to have records faxed to a different vet and everything checked, it dosen`t take long to do and should help, especially if your original vet is having technical problems re the xray machine.
I really want to rant about this - but that won`t do you any good, it must be so worrying and frustrating for you Anniestar - not to mention poor Phoebe.
I really hope that things work out well and that you can get some good advice regarding poor Phoebe.
Huge Hugs for you and Phoebe and i hope that everything gets sorted out and quickly!
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Annie, I have a friend whose cat did have leukaemia (so did the rest of the litter and the kitten's mother). I will ask her tomorrow what the symptoms were.

Evening all,
((((hugs)))) to anniestar - I agree that you should try another vet and get a second opinion.
Squiggly - oooh, sounds positive
Money isn't everything, obviously, but it certainly helps
I had quite a positive thing happen to me at work today. For ages now I have been trying to persuade my company to let me move into another field, giving me training in project planning software. The company desperately needs somebody who can do it, and they're currently paying an agency £800 a DAY   for a part-time resource. Everybody knows I am interested, and I know I would be good at it, and it would let me get my teeth into the construction project side of our business (something I dipped my toe into before, but had to leave as my boss was a nightmare) but the people who could have made it happen have seemed completely uninterested. Anyway, we've had a management shuffle recently, and I've just spoken to one of the "new" senior managers about it (in fact although he's new to the position we have worked together for years and have always got on well). He seemed to register my interest a lot more genuinely than anybody else ever has before... and he's promised to discuss it with his boss! :j :j
Anyway, am home relaxing and celebrating with a G&T (please forget what I said about having a detox this week
). I do hope something comes of it.
Rzl xx

Annie we're in a very similar situation with our older cat atm. She has always had dental problems so when she started losing weight recently I presumed that was the problem. I also knew she was anaemic but thought that was because her appetite was poor. Turns out her red blood cell count is scarily low so our vet too has diagnosed leukemia (and like your vet, not the contagious kind) As a last ditch attempt to keep her going, she is having daily injections in case it's Feline Infectious Anaemia. We should know tommorrow or thursday if her number's up.

Anyway.... What I wanted to say was...I think cats are like kids...they bounce back really well with painkillers and I really hope Phoebe is just suffering pain in her mouth. To reassure yourself maybe a second opinion would do no harm and I would be registering a complaint about the nurse if I were you.
Haven't been about for a while on the thread but I do know that you're having a rough time Candygirl. Take care of yourself.xx
I'm glad the funeral had a good turn out Betheebee and your friend was remembered well.
R.mac.... I was very nauseous with the twins.
I ate very little but raw fruit and veg for 12 weeks and we all survived. Take care. x
I've been very busy in the garden and the kitchen recently doing lots of OS stuff that I won't bore you with now.
Hope everyone else is well.

Oh Rzl, that sounds really positive for you as well!!! We'll keep everything crossed that it comes off for you

And yes, I know what you mean - I was talking to a mate about this earlier, and said that having worked really hard to buy my house- only last October - (as a single parent & f/t student & p/t worker) & car, etc, it's nice to meet someone who's prepared to work equally as hard to have the same themselves, and who I don't feel I would end up "keeping". Equally, I don't expect someone to "keep" me either!!!!! I just think it might work better if it's a more equal relationship ....
Having said that - and it will sound completely contradictory! - it's really not material things that bother me, but the person I'm with
Enjoy your G&T!!!
Edit: Haribo - hello!!! nice to hear from you
More edit: I hope I don't sound really snobby above, cos I'm not at all.... As long as I have enough cash to pay the bills & eat, I'm happy.... Anything else is a bonus....Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Annie - I would definitely get a second opinion; the nurse had no right to be so defensive - she's not a vet. You know Phoebe better than anyone. (((Hugs))) to you - I've had cats and know just how they become one of the family.
