I found this on the forums but just noticed it wasnt from Rmac!!!!! Hope its similar cos there have been lots of favourable comments for her one and mine is in the oven as I speak!!

Here is a lemon drizzle cake recipe:

    175g softened butter
    175g caster sugar
    2 eggs
    4 tablespoons milk
    175g self raising flour
zest and juice of one unwaxed lemon
    1 tablespoon icing sugar

Cream together the butter and sugar. Gradually beat in eggs and milk. Fold in flour with lemon zest. Spoon mixture into greased 2lb loaf tin. Bake 55-65 minutes 180c or 350f or gas 4 until golden.

Mix lemon juice and icing sugar to make thin paste. Pour over cake as soon as it is removed from oven. Allow glaze to set before removing from tin. Leave on rack to cool completely.

Candygirl my heart goes out to you and your dad. I am dreading the day when I have to go through this with my mum who has lung cancer and emphysema.
Each month that goes by she gets a little weaker but is so independent she still lives in her flat on her own. It's heartbreaking to watch.

oooooh (((hugs))) Anniestar - will be thinking of you

Thanks Candygirl. My mum is on her own and as I am an only child I take the brunt of it I am afraid, but you only have one mum and she took care of me so now its my turn.

Well the lemon drizzle cake didnt turn out quite as well as expected. I think I used too small a tin for the amount of mixture and cos I haven't used it for a long time I forgot that it sticks like crazy so must get myself a new one. It tastes fine though even though it looks ok from the top but a pile of crumbs from the bottom!!! It will get eaten though I know that much. I will try it again in a larger tin next time though

Taplady - hope DS's eye is OK? I know of two children with conjunctivitis at the moment so maybe that's the problem.

Taplady - glad the doctor has found out what's wrong and prescribed for it - a stye is painful so I hope it clears up soon.

Annie - thinking of you and Phoebe

Well, the sun wnt in for a couple of hours but has now come back out; my washing is bone dry so I really should get it in - it'll be a pain to iron but I'll worry about that tomorrow! I've just watched last night's Mary Queen of Shops - did any of you catch it? It was really good - I shall look forward to the rest of the series. Tonight I shall record the programme on at 8pm on Animal Planet about how they train the horses and riders of the Manchester Mounted Police. As someone who loves horses, I shall find it more interesting than DH will so I shan't put him through it!

Well, I think I'll go and put the kettle on.

    See you all later.

    :hello: Hiya

Spent most of the day travelling around by foot/train. DD1 did her grade 4 sax exam this morning and that has taken up most of the day. She wants to start piano lessons when she joins her new high school and we will need to buy her an electric/digital piano keyboard.
She already has one but it's too small as she needs one with at least 66 keys that are 'weighted'. Any recommendations would be helpful as I don't have a clue? I will have to look at the finances as the keyboard/lessons will have to be allowed for  . These kids are costing me a fortune!

Tonight's tea will be an 'experimental' one using bits from the freezer. I've got cocktail sausages, mushrooms and courgettes, so I thought I'd make a spag bol type meal and serve with pasta and my new cheapy garlic bread creation. I use the white loaf crusts, spread with butter, garlic puree and herbs and bake in the oven for 10 minutes, then we all fight over it!:rotfl:

I'm in work for the rest of the week and I'm taking the girls over to my parents after school for our tea.:D
    Have a good evening.:D

BusyGirl, why don't you put a wanted onto your local Freecycle board, someone might have a keyboard they want to give away
