OS Daily Tuesday 10th June 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 10th June, 2008 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning. Foggy start to the day, but that's supposed to burn off later.

Last day at work and then 3 days off.

Big fishing comp tomorrow, work championships at Newquay. I am organising it, so I have the stress of hoping everyone shows up and sorting everyone out. At least the major part of it is funded, so I have no worries about last minute cancellations. Should be a good day.

The insurance assessor approved my wall repairs and are sending a cheque. So that will cover everything. I can set the builder loose next week.

The ducklings are not doing too well. 1 got picked off by a crow yesterday afternoon and 2 were found dead in the nest. It can get quite distressing. It was amazing to watch their first swimming lesson on the pond. They float and paddle like a duck to water....... I hope we can keep them alive as everything is against them.

Well folks have a nice day.

Morning N9eav and all who follow,
reasonably clear here this morning, I hope it's going to be another nice day.

W**k for me today as usual, I'll see how I get on, didn't sleep very well for the past 2 nights so I'm like a zombie this morning.

Tea tonight will be something done with steak pieces, no idea what mind.
Anything done after that in the way of the house or OS is a bonus, I'm not doing very well at present :o but on the other hand, I have lots of lovely veggies coming on to feed us all later :money:

hugs to all who want or are in need of one.
hope you all have a good day and I'l hopefully see you later

Morning all, hope you are all well. Not had a chance to catch up on yesterdays thread yet, but hugs to those that need or want one.

I'm shattered and haven't been sleeping well - I'm at work now, having left the house at 4.45am because I needed the walk. I going to try and have a calm day today and hopefully be out at a reasonable hour. OH is being very understanding, which is sweet of him and has taken over most of the housework for the time being. My boss is back, which isn't good news as he's in one of his moods, and I think the stress is getting to me a bit. I might have tomorrow off if I still feel like this, but TBH, I'm better off not on my own at home even if I'm functioning at the level of a lobotomised goldfish. :rotfl:

Quesadillas for tea as they are quick and easy. :) have a good day everyone, cel x

Morning all - sunny and very warm here already; it's going to be another good day.

N9EAV - glad you can get on with the wall at last. Poor chicks - I've seen crows steal a baby blackbird and kill it in front of it's parents - very distressing. They really are nasty birds.

(((Hugs))) to SMOKY, PENPIN, MRS MIX, BETH, JAYWARD and CANDYGIRL'S DAD and everyone else who needs one.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, for some reason, even though I have been feeling much better, I had a rotten night's sleep due to a stuffy nose and a very warm bedroom! I must have woken up a dozen times and feel tired already - hopefully a shower will wake me up.

Today's plan is to tackle the ironing before the real heat of the day kicks in, make a salad to have with ham and new pots for dinner, and sort out the porch - DH may have a couple of days spare from tomorrow when one job finishes and the next one is scheduled for Friday; we are in desperate need of a new front door and some of the guttering needs replacing so it will be good if he can fit that in. The porch is a bit of a botch job by the last owners and needs 'making good' while we decide what we really want to do with it permanently.

Anyway, off to have a shower and hopefully wake up a bit!

Hope everyone has a good day with lots of sunshine.

    See you later.

    Morning all,

wide awake since 5.40 as there appears to be glorious sunshine outside again :) so caved in & went to make tea.

N9eav, that's so sad about the ducklings, I would get really upset. I hope the others make it...
AB, what about frying the steak in strips & having it in tortilla wraps with salad?? (or is that what quesilladas are celyn??)
Mioliere, glad your cold seems to have abated a bit too.

Yesterday was fabulous weather-wise & I ended up at a cafe right on Brighton Beach with my mates, just having a chilled-out lunch & chatting for a couple of hours. It was lovely :) Then went for another drink with same date from Sunday. And this morning we may be having a cuppa for an hour before he has to go off to a meeting.... So things seem to be looking promising there...!! :D

((((((hugs)))))) to all those needing them, whether feeling poorly/miserable/ waiting for test results / grumpy kids/OH's or just because you want one.

    TNG :kisses2:

Have a good day all, catch you later.

  • Good Morning,

After being at work all night (and getting few hours sleep) I am looking forward to going home in about an hour. Got to pop to Mr T on way home to get few things and then its a day lying on a rug outside in the sun trying to entertain our labrador pup while trying to snatch a bit more sleep. I will be under my umbrella so not to get sun burnt.
I stayed in for most of yesterday but want to enjoy the weather more today its a great start to the day here sunny and clear, im in Colchester.

Then its back to work again tonight.
    Love a charity shop bargain

    Morning all
I have written a covering letter for BIL & will send it off today with bank statements. Chicken Ham & Mushroom pie tonight with new pots & salad. Off to work soon, I got really fed up yesterday with people coming in & saying 'Isn't it hot in here, how do you stand it?' I stand it because I have to & because although there is AC in all the Senior Leadership Team offices, no one cares about the lonely technician working in 104 degs heat, lol.
I made some more bags last night, I will donate 10 to my W.I. for the local fete on Saturday.
    Have a good day
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Another bright day here, not sure if I have any washing left, I have even washed all the dogs bedding, and an old dressing gown, I do like to do washing in this heat.

I got 2 turkey legs in sainsbugs last week for £1.19 each, so I am going to slow cook them today ready for a curry tomorrow, and hopefully one for the freezer

Need to have a quick tidy round then go and get a new pot for one of my plants, I knocked it over with the hose last night and it smashed, I would also like to get a book re growing your own veg, I suppose I am too late for this year but would like to have a go next year.

N9eav, sorry about the ducklings how sad

celyn90, you are always on the go, please try to relax a bit, its not good for you, hugs to you xx

    Morning

Cloudy here this morning, but maybe it will get better later.

((( hugs ))) to Celyn, hope you feel better soon

N9eav, what a shame about the ducklings, hope the rest are OK.

Weigh in this morning, then have 16 books to take back to the library van. You can now have 20 books, I must not get 20 books, I'll never read them all, but I just can't resist books :D

Chicken and veg for dinner. I am not going shopping this week, I have so much food in the freezer and cupboard, that I could probably not shop for the next month

Martin is on GMTV later, so will try to catch him. GMTV did a survey of which was the cheapest supermarket yesterday, and surprise surprise, Aldi came out on top. I used to have the shop to myself and now can't get on the car park for all the Mercedes and BMWs :rotfl:

I seem to be 'mioliering' this morning, so had better sign off.

Have a great day everyone x
