Hi,
I thought I'd update this thread with my recent experience with gtahotels. In 2 of my recent trips they were undeniably cheaper than other websites (in most cases they included breakfast for a cheaper price). I tried to get some hotel chains to price match but none would. Initially I was even apprehensive that this was a legitimate business, so after having my price-match requests denied I asked if the hotel chains did business with this company, which was confirmed.
I have now had 2 experiences. In one case I emailed the hotel a few days after the booking (with a few queries) and they confirmed they had my booking and that all was fine. In the second case, I had to cancel the room (all confortably within the cancellation period) even before confirming with the hotel - I cancelled this weekend and was credited with the refund on Monday (I saw the refund in my credit card today).
Why did I use this company after the many scary stories? I often take with some scepticism the stories I read on the internet (not that they are untrue, but because people tend to exagerate to make their case or omit details). Whenever I research a trip, gtahotels often has an extremely attractive offer. I understand voucher companies work differently and the savings can be big if you're trying to get the best possible for the least price. So I decided to try them out and initially my first booking was only for a £40 hotel (a saving of £30 over the hotel's website plus breakfast), so I thought this was a small price to pay. In the second case I felt more confident: they offered a cheaper with breakfast cancelable rate, so why not?
Will I use them again? If the savings are good and I cannot find another way to get value for money such as priceline or a price match guarantee, I might. But I will certainly leave enough to contact the hotel to check, and to arrange for alternative accommodation if there is a problem. Personally, I would still not be confortable with extented stays that involve a lot of money, so I'll just restrict my bookings with them to 1 or 2 days. Having said that, in the current economic climate prepaid accommodations do not seem to be a good idea if the company goes bust, regardless of the company (except perhaps expedia and hotels.com). This is my way of looking at this.
I wanted to share my experience, but these 2 cases are by no means a guarantee that all will go well next time for me or you. But I think it is important to read the good and the bad and then make your own decisions - and I have not just registered to report these 2 positive experiences.
Merry Xmas!! :santa2:0 -

Thanks for that, but I don't think that is appropriate.I post my experience, either positive or negative, and sharing and reading what others read is reward in itself.
I do hope the problems with bookings with you become a thing of the past since you are really competitive, especially when you include the breakfast.0 -
thanks for all the infos, i was almost booked my holiday through gta, so glad that i search more about the website here 1st, so now i have booked through octopus instead for the same hotel + breakfast for only £5 extra in 2days (thank god that i managed to find this package out when i decided that i have to search again), as my bf said we shouldn't just book through a slightly 'doggy' website for the sake of a fiver.0
