I may be wrong, but Happytraveller who became a poster today, appears (maybe?) an employee of GTA who trawls search engines to find negative comments. This thread apears on page 23 on Google. I haven't searched any other 'engines' but wouldn't be surprised if they're others. Coindcidence? Maybe, but I somehow doubt it!

    Arggg. I think you're right.

    And the reason being,

Thats how I got here and registered today.. Looking for reviews and band news about GTAHotels.com

The problem is, this type of action will work against them when people are booking.

I have been looking all night since they are offering prices at literally half.
I only found one other negative thing and that was something about a guy in Turkey using people's (GTAhotels customers) credit card numbers to make bookings at other hotels and then canceling them. The scam was that other and certain hotels would have fake bookings. If the people canceled before the cancellation date, us poor suckers in North American should really never even know what happened.

The link was in a different language but I know for me, I'm extremely hesitant now. When it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Why is it so hard to find real reviews of real people using the service.
I doubt buddy above joined simply to post that.

Peter - This link has now reached page two on Google. I really think it's time for them to give you some answers re the problems you've been having, and why they can't book your Hotel at the price quoted. I should think they're Customer Services must be seething. Come on GTA do the right thing and sort this problem out!

Having a vested interest in this query about gtahotels has made me do a little more digging into their background.

When you book with them via the website you are presented with a print off voucher for the hotel – you get a similar voucher when you book via Expedia. Looking at the detail on my voucher (note my hotel is in the USA) it states the payment will be made to the US hotel by AlliedTPro.Inc.

And when I look these people up they are part of the Kuoni Group – so this information makes me feel much more confident about the contract.

OP - on your voucher under the heading “Important Note to Hotelier” who does it say is making the payment? In my case it is effectively Kuoni.
  • Hi
I also used to work for Travelport (the owner of GTA, Gulliver's Travel and Octopus). For what its worth this company doesn't seem to be part of the same group.

Hi Trev and thanks to everyone else who has joined this thread. I still have not received a reply to any of my e-mails to www.gtahotels.com sent since last Monday. I also completed a complaint form to them yesterday. I got to www.gtahotels.com via a link from www.moneysupermarket.com They were very keen to help me via a telephone call and asked me to e-mail all my documentation which I did last night. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but won't book my flight until I get a resolution.

I currently work for Octopus Travel, this company is nothing to do with GTA. As Perrywhite says Travelport own Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA), Octopus Travel, as well as Need A Hotel, Orbitz, Galileo, Worldspan.

This company just has a similar name
    :j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

  • I booked through GTA last year when my sister and I stayed in Brussels. No problems with the booking / payment. Just printed off the details to show at the hotel.

    Interesting.
I am just a little cautious about this.
The rates are cheaper than anywhere on the net.

I'd hate to show up overseas and be turned down for whatever reason.
It's extremely hard to find any reviews on this company.

Even places, tripadvisor.com, very hard to find reviews so I'm apprehensive.

There was like I said, one document posted on tripadvisor in turkish or something where it said the guy behind GTAhotels.com was using peoples credit cards world wide to make booking, to show no occupancy, and then canceling as per the hotels requirements, thus us here in North American never know it happened.

Don't know how true it is. I'll try and find the link.

If someone from gtahotels.com can prove me wrong and fix the issue with the user above, I'll be booking many hotels with them.

    Here you go.

and here are a few keywords so this can stay up in the top of the search engines lol
gtahotels review gtahotels.com scam gtahotels.com safe gtahotels legit "is gtahotels.com safe" "is gtahotels.com legit" "gtahotels.com scam"

    AND

    http://www.takvim.com.tr/2007/04/09/gnc122.html

Metin Altun is the owner of GTAhotels.com (NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH GULLIVER'S TRAVELS)

Metin Altun found guilty of 22 counts of Internet & Credit Card Fraud

I cant figure out the entire conversion but it does mention

    ww.otel.com.tr and www.tatil.com

    EDIT MORE DIGGING
Not associated with Gulliver's Travels AT ALL.

They tried to open a domain suit again him with WIPO and were denied

This guys is in Istanbul Turkey,

I will be avoiding GTAHotels.com like the plague.

Too bad for Gulliver's Travel. People are posting ALL over the Internet its the same company. Those posts are probably similar to the above, people from GTAhotels.com making these claims.

I would be not concerned about getting my night at a hotel, I'd be more concerned about the possible identity theft and who knows how these guys are using your credit information.
  • Update:
www.gtahotels.com have cancelled our reservation at the 2* Queens Hotel, Dubai. My wife rang GTA Hotels today and they still claimed that we were booked into the 5* Sheraton Dubai which is what they have charged us for. This is NOT true. She confronted them with the result of our investigations. They then had the cheek to ask us if we will accept the 2* hotel for the same price. NO CHANCE. They told her someone would ring tomorrow. I'm sure they won't. I recommend you avoid this company. They have ruined my surprise for my wife and all my plans.
