I hadn't noticed that.
Maybe they had a rush of orders and figured they could put the price up.
Or worked out that older firmware stock is worth more than newer stock.0 -
I can confirm the one from Amazon is old firmware.. I got one a couple of days ago, Luckely I got it before they doubled the price..0

gavinp wrote:I would agree with Des on this - I have been working in I.T. Technical Support for over sixteen years and this really is the most complicated device I have ever encountered... one page has over 130 different settings on it !
Most of the settings you'll never change but I gulped when I saw it!
The unlocking process is not particularly difficult but does require strong networking knowledge. Once unlocked, it then needs to be configured which is where the fun really starts...
There is a web site here which gives the settings for most VoIP companies:
http://voxilla.com/pap2config.php
DO NOT reset the unit to factory defaults as it will re-lock the unit.
I would recommend you set the PAP2 up with Sipgate first to confirm it is working before trying VoIPBuster.
Unless you are confident in your I.T. knowledge and up for a challenge, I wouldn't recommend it.
Thanks
Gavin
With an unlocked, off-the-shelf PAP2, I used the voxilla link above to load the configuration into my newly-reset-to-defaults PAP2 and then went back in and edited the DNS entry from MANUAL to DHCP, Manual.
Ports opened on my router I think are:
Please forward the following ports of your router to the IP of your x-Lite PC:
Port 5060 UDP
Port 8000 - 8012 UDP,
Port 5004 UDP,
Port 10000 UDP,
and Port 3478 - 3497 UDP & TCP

:T works with SIPGate .... :beer:In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0 -
The broadbandbuyer seems to have 19.99 PAP2 in stock.

Any information on their current version of firmware?paul_h wrote:Thanks for the info all, I've been meaning to get a PAP2 for a bit now, but I've been a tad busy recently...
I wish I'd spied this thread a few weeks ago, the Amazon ones seem to be £40 now.0 -
Hi,
I have just noticed that Comet have brought back the Linksys PAP2 on Vonage for £19.99 http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/68_270202.html
Anyone know whether this is unlockable?0 -
I'm sure I read somewhere that the BBB ones were the latest firmware, i.e. not unlockable.
Not sure about Comet's...0 -
A friend of mine bought a PAP2 from BBB a couple of weeks ago, which I hacked without problems.. It came with firmware 2.1.3 i think.0

I bought an unlocked PAP2 from https://www.dabs.com at the weekend (arrived yesterday) for £19.95 but I note that the price has now gone up to £45.82. Must have been a pricing error. I'm well pleased with my bargain though.0

The PAP2 from Dabs is still available @ 19.96 is you search for quicklinx 3VW7G8. Looks like they have some sort of pricing issue on their website, as the same product is available at two different prices.
Anyway, from what people are saying the pap2 @ 19.96 is unlocked, which saves you having to hack it. And as such is a bargain..
I am still waiting for mine to arrive so cant confirm it is unlocked.0
