Unlocking a £20 Linksys PAP2 VoIP adapter

Hi
Once unlocked - have you performed the phone reset as well? This might then allow the unit to be reset to factory defaults with the concern of it getting locked again.
Just a thought0 -
Broadbandbuyer - Is your 'locked' stock the type that can be unlocked ??
Thanks

I'm fairly sure Giles wouldn't be able to answer that question on a public forum!
BUT ... I will have 2 in my grubby little hands tomorrow morning, and will of course post here with my results.

Just as a little aside from the main thread...
I bought one of these Linksys PAP2 babies as well, which should be with me today. I just wanted to say to Giles, your website is probably one of, if not the best website I've ever been on. Informative, easy to understand, and the checkout and aftersales info (postage costs, tracking etc) is amazing! I'd recommend anyone to get their broadband/telephone/network related hardware from you.
I run a website too (different market and much smaller scale) and I'd be very interested to know who designed it/shopping cart vendor etc. Could you let me know any specifics if its not too much trouble. Probably best to PM me to keep the thread clean;)
Thanks

TBH though - once our stock goes we wont be replenishingThere are some better routers coming out
I already have a Linksys AG21 and have problems with the VPN so I am a bit reluctant to buy the Linksys WRT54GP2-UK (I believe they have similar firmware and no plans to upgrade it). The WRT54GP2-UK looks to have most of the features one would want (Wireless, router & 2 UNLOCKED VOIP ports) for £70.
I have 2 PAP2 devices (one unlocked & one sealed in it's box) so I can wait a little longer before I purchase a new 'system'. Could you indicate what the new routers are (make, model, functions etc) and roughly when they will be available?
I like the look of the Sipura 3000 which allows you to dial in from your mobile (inclusive or free call) and then route your call to other mobiles at minimal cost etc. Although with 1899.com and just-dial.com the benefit (CHEAP) of VOIP is fast diminishing. Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -
I bought an old BT Diverse 2 LINE DECT system to work with the PAP2.
From the (2) cordless handsets you can choose to dial out on line 1 (Voipbuster) or line 2 (Sipgate). However when I receive incoming calls the phones don't ring. If I put a splitter on a PAP2 port the phone rings BEFORE passing through the 'PABX' but not after.
If I plug the Diverse system into conventional (POTS) lines the handsets do ring.
For reference the manual states the modulation is GFSK.
Are there any settings in the PAP2 that I need to configure for Diverse 2 Line (PABX?) system?
As posted by gavinp I found about half the RJ11 cables I have worked with the PAP2 (i.e. the phones ring). Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -
Hi,
I unlocked my PAP2, but couldn't get it connected to either sipgate (line 1) or voipbuster (line 2). I already tried:
1. Port forwarding: 5060 to PAP2
2. DMZ: local IP of PAP2
3. Voxilla to auto config the line1 for sipgate.co.uk
4. changing DNS server of system setting among: 192.168.0.1 or the DNS server provided by NTL (i.e. 194.168.4.100 and 194.168.8.100) or even leave it blank.
5. changing the sip config of PAP2 by setting "handle VIA received: yes" ... "send resp to src port: yes" or leave them "No" as default.
6. in sip config: use the stun server as stun.sipgate.net:10000, external IP: my external IP or leave them blank as default.
7. Manual config the outbound proxy for line 1 as sipgate.co.uk, use outbound proxy: Yes, use OB proxy in dialog: Yes
8. Subscriber info: display name: my name, user-ID: [sip-ID], password: [pwd provided by sip], use Auth ID: yes, Auth ID:[sip-ID]
I also try to set up line 2 for voipbuster.
Use either following two settings but it doesn't work:
i)
Line enable : yes
nat mapping enable : yes
proxy : stun.voipbuster.com
outbound proxy : nat.voiptalk.org:5065
use outbound proxy : yes
register : yes
display name : voipbuster username
user id : voipbuster username
password : voipbuster password
or
ii)
proxy : sip.voipbuster.com
outbound proxy : sip.voipbuster.com
Both of them couldn't connect
I tried to run software on my PC. The firefly for sipgate works fine by whether using stun server or not. The voipbuster works fine as well. However, when I used X-Lite to try the sipgate on the PC, it doesn't work.
Anyone has any idea ?
Thanks and have a nice weekend !!!0 -
svkhtn,
I can't see much wrong with your settings. Have you turned off provisioning?
If we consider voipbuster first:
I have proxy sip.voipbuster.com
no to outbound proxy
no entry for outbound proxy
register yes
make call without reg no
In sip I have:
First 8 boxes of NAT Support parameter as yes, STUN server as stun.sipgate.net:10000 (ext IP seems to work with blank, internal or external).
Keep us posted. Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -
Yes, provisioning is off since the unlock process finished.
I followed the settings you provided, but it said "cannot connect to login server"
By the way, after each change I just go back to the info page and refesh it to check. Is it right? Do I need to switch off/on the PAP2 (I don't think I need to, do I ?) ?Stabilo wrote:svkhtn,
