    Are the 2 connectors part of the actual Vonage pack though? ie, mentioned on the box/manual ?

    Thanks
    Daniel

    The Comet units include them as I have bought 2 but the others look like they are sold separately.

    I haven't set any DNS servers, just removed Vonage. Do you suggest internal or external address of ADSL router? I use dyndns.org to obtain 'static' external IP.

    Thanks for confirmation on the DTMF, InBand is working ok but I will change to INFO.

    I suspect that you are using a DHCP address for your PAP2 ?

    DHCP should automatically assign the DNS server entries to your local internal router address and/or your ISP DNS servers.

    I suspect that the two DNS fields in the PAP2 configuration are required for a fixed IP address and act as an override if you use DHCP (i.e. if left blank, the DHCP-assigned DNS servers are used).

    I used a fixed IP address and the PAP2 wouldn't work at all until I put a valid DNS server entry in the config.

    Thanks

    If you receive them in the near future (say days) I expect them to be ok, after that the risk is higher.

    The pack contents for the broadbandbuyer units don't mention the 2 off RJ11 to RJ45 connectors. The Comet kit includes them, they are £2 each.

    Broadbandbuyer do have a nice looking wireless unlocked 2 phone port router (WRT54GP2) for £80.

    Broadbandstuff.co.uk have the WRT54GP2 for £5 less.

    After unlocking the PAP2, you can update the latest firmware for PAP2 without changing the unlocking status.

    From command line: tftp -i ls.tftp.Vonage.net get PAP2-bin-03-01-06-LS.bin

    Bug Fixes
    ==================================
    -- since 3.1.3 --

    . <Conference Bridge Ports> value is swapped between Line 1
    and Line 2 internally

    . CIDCW Ack digit (A or D) is sent OOB if DTMF Tx Method is INFO.
    The symptom is that the other party may hear the ACK
    digit if the peer device will play OOB DTMF via SIP INFO msg

    . < Detect ABCD> setting has no effect if DTMF Tx Method
    is INFO; ABCD is always sent OOB regardless the setting.

    ====================================
    Feature Enhancement
    ====================================
    -- since 3.1.3 --
    . Allow macro expansion of $A to $D in User-Agent field configuration. These
    macros correspond to provisionable parameters GPP_A to GPP_D.

    . Support bell 202 and also v.23 FSK standard for caller-id generation.
    Select by setting < Caller ID FSK Standard> to "bell 202" or "v.23"

    . Echo canceller is not automatically disabled when FAX tone is detected unless
    < FAX Disable ECAN> (new Line 1/2 parameter) is set to "yes"

    . Added < Jitter Buffer Adjustment> Line 1/2 paramters to control how
    jitter buffer should be adjusted.

    . Added "extremely high" additional optin to < Network Jitter Level> parameter.

    . Added < SIP Reg User Agent Name> which, if specfied, is the user-agent
    name to be used in a REGISTER request. If not specified, the value in
    <SIP User Agent Name> will be used for REGISTER request also.
    Default value is blank.

    . If Line 1 and 2 uses the same < SIP Port> value and
    option is enabled, then the < Proxy> IP address for both Line 1 and 2
    are treated as acceptable IP address for both Lines

    . Added < Emergency Number> which is a comma separated list of
    emergency number patterns. If outbound call matches one of the
    pattern, SPA will disable Hook Flash event handling.
    Maximum length of this field is 63 chars.

    . All phone number template accepts %xx escape in the pattern
    where the character represented by %xx is matched against literally.
    This applies to the parameters: < Ring1 Caller> - < Ring8 Caller>,
    < Cfwd Sel1 Caller> - < Cfwd Sel8 Caller>, < Emergency Number>

    . After a REGISTER request has failed, the next REGISTER will not
    include preemptive credentials

    Those are the notes up to 3.1.5, what happened in 3.1.6 I don't know...

    I haven't bought one yet. However, when reading stabilo's post I am wondering:

    " 2 RJ11 to RJ45 adaptors " ==> what are they for ?

    I think the PAP2 has 2 RJ11 ports and 1 RJ45 port. You use 2 phone lines (with RJ11 on both ends, not the one with "RJ11 to BT") to connect to 2 phones, the RJ45 port to connect to your internet (i.e. router, switch...).

    Am I missing something here?

    Wife has returned from Comet with the unit and very nice it is too. Much smaller than the pictures indicate (approx 4" X 4" X 1"). Comes with a stand, 2 RJ11 to RJ45 adaptors and Vonage 'user' guide:rotfl: .

    I made up the RJ references, might have the numbers wrong. I'll put it in English. PAP2 has 2 female US telephone ports. You need 2 connectors (male US phone one end and female 'BT' UK on the other) to plug in 2 'BT' UK devices.

    HTH

    If RJ45 is ethernet & RJ11 is US phone socket what is a UK phone socket reference?

    Most people just call it a BT socket ;) There is a reference for it, but I can't remember off the top of my head ;)

    I think normally phones in the UK have a RJ11 female port (?). We often use RJ11-BT lead to connect them to the BT socket.

    It means with this PAP2, can we use RJ11-RJ11 leads to connect phones to the 2 female ports on the PAP2 ?

    Am I missing something ?

    I can't remember it either and WRONGLY quoted it as RJ45
    (to confuse people :confused: ).

    Yes if your phone (most new ones) has a female RJ11 socket the RJ11-RJ11 leads will be fine. The Comet kit is complete with adaptors if you need them. Some retailers appear to sell the untits without adaptors.
