I am using what I pay per month which is a fixed amount of £80 (which is pretty accurate for what we use) for both gas and electric. So I split it and put I pay a fixed amount of £40 for each.

That's probably what is wrong as each comparison site will have its own way of working out your current tariff. Plus some of the sites will quote unrealistic savings to get you to switch when you base it on monthly spend.

It will be far more accurate if you use actual usage figures for the last year ( you'll get these on your bill or ask your current supplier). I tried 3 different sites and each gave me exactly the same saving.

So why such an amazing saving difference quote?

And more importantly, when did each company in the comparison last change its prices? I can't be bothered to change in case the cheapest supplier is simply the one that hasn't yet put a price increase through.
