LOndon energy look good to me too but when I tried to apply they said they didn't cover my area and redirected me to their parent company website, EDF. Bit miffed that EDF do not offer an online tariff which means £144 more expensive !!!!

All the comparison sites offer me London Energy but when I go to the London Energy website it says it doesn't cover me and as you it directs me to EDF. However I decided to apply through energyhelpline.com to London Energy Online and see what happens. Surely 3 comparison websites all can't be wrong when they show London Energy Online in my results for my postcode?

is there any way of finding out who has put their prices up lately. I know NPower haven't as they are claiming to be the best for me.

What about Southern Electric and Powergen pls?

I don't know its confusing, even if they calculate on suppliers current rates they are both showing I'm presently paying 2 totally different and higher amounts than I actually am paying.

Well I just looked at the 4 quarterly bills I've used for calculation and they show out of the 4 only the last one took into consideration the price increase so thats 9 months at old price 3 at new price. Would they calculate the kws for the whole 12 months in the new prices then?

I might phone Southern electric and see if they can recalculate to make sure I'm paying the right amount to cover and see what they say
    Thanx

The results I get are all in red with a - infront of them. Does this mean I won't save anything??
  • I sense confusion on this subject.

    Let me add to it.

I am with scottishpower dual fuel online. I am wondering if going to a capped rate would be prudent, tricky with the 2007 price decrease talk, but the way I see it there's less gas as years go on and less british gas especially. So do I go capped (which means fixed really) or shop to see if I can find lower than scots for now? Advice welcome.
  • it tells me to switch to n-power saving £180 per year, but for the hassle Im not going to change yet as if they are rising thier prices in January it may be not worth it. all the capped/fixed prices were in red. im confused !

That I understand at least, the red for capped/fixed means they are being sold at a premium rate - Scots power invited me to theirs at £4 a month more (nearly £50 a year to 2007, British Gas if I entered the info right would lose me £40 a year but give peace of mind till 2010, very tempting). Hence my hesitation in taking one up unless there is clarity on their benefit.

Don't you have to pay BG a termination fee if you switch out before 2010 though? £75 before 2008, £50 before 2009, £35 before 2010
  • The judgement is if you are sure prices will rise it won't be a facttor, get it wrong and it is. Though that's not too exorbitant.
