According to BG website, Discounted Electricity prices are due to go up at the end of 2005.
I wonder what kind of increase? Will it be the 14% rise that BG put on in September?0 -

Hi Jem, How did you get on with your discounted application?
I was just about to write the same as you, everybody seems to be switching to BG but as you rightly say, the price goes up at the end of this year. I would love to know by how much too !??!0 -
is there any way of finding out who has put their prices up lately. I know NPower haven't as they are claiming to be the best for me.
What about Southern Electric and Powergen pls?0 -

That's a sore point Gambler.
I applied on the 25th September. I heard nothing and eventually emailed them. On the 10th october they eventually replied stating that they had put me on the Price Freeze 2010! I emailed back straight away pointing out that I had applied for Discounted Electricity and that I definitely did not want Price Freeze 2010. I'm still waiting on a reply. I phoned on the 15th and was assured that I had now told them that and saying it would be sorted. I even got the CS rep to email me saying what had been done. I'm still waiting on confirmation.
I have now given up in disgust. I checked the comparison sites again and London Energy Online would be even cheaper so I've applied for that - they can't be any worse than BG. I emailed BG last night and told them not to switch me to anything and that I was changing supplier!
Needless to say I haven't had a reply.0 -

LOndon energy look good to me too but when I tried to apply they said they didn't cover my area and redirected me to their parent company website, EDF. Bit miffed that EDF do not offer an online tariff which means £144 more expensive !!!!0 -
Am I doing something wrong because when I go through enegyhelpline I put in all my details in, I've worked it out very carefully using my bills covering the last year, 12 months worth although one is due after nov 19th for 3 months so I had to go almost 15 months back to get the whole 12 months.
I thought it better than putting in the amount I pay Southern Electric per month as it would get a more accurate calculation.
I'm on economy 7 so I've worked out that in the years total amount kw usage 35% is being used for nightime units.
The total I actually pay southern for both each year is £816 but at the top of the energyhelpline page they have put the amount I'm using is £934 and they base thier calculations on this, they say npower is the cheapest at £863 per year (I'm now paying £816) and they say my saving will be £71 per year so how does that work out?
Also tried UK power, put in same details and they say I'm actually paying at the moment £841 (again its really £816) but they say same as energy helpline that cheapest they can do is npower at £863 and show zero savings with anyone
How can they miscalculate the actual amount Im paying by that much? especially energyhelpline, so looks like I'm ok with Southern Electric and gas dual unless I've done something wrongThanx

is it based on the amount you're paying your current supplier going up substantially recently? so if you were paying 50 a month last year you'll be paying 70 a month this year (for example) because your current supplier has hiked up its prices? i used the kw hours for my calculations and the prices were pretty accurate but were a bit higher than i paid last year because everyone has put up their prices.52% tight0

they use your current suppliers current rates. Mine are calculated spot on.0

Do you think i've made the wrong decision by moving to N-Power?0
