akh43 wrote:Yesterday and today I have seen Npower stands in my area and they are trying to convert people. They say they are cheaper than my now supplier, Powergen, and on checking on their website today they are £145 cheaper than Powergen. I had an online quote a month or so ago which quoted the same price.
Does anyone know if they are due to increase their prices?
I have checked the UK Power saver link above, which says they last increased their prices in February 2005 and it says the site was last updated on 18 October.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
They must be if they haven't increased since Feb-05.0 -
thanks for advice - am with scottish power, and was about to switch1
BTW, any chance of a cheapest supplier for oil? we live in the sticks so don't have gas! can't ever seem to find comparisons for oil!
Also how do i put a cool moving icon on ?!0 -
Got a letter today from Scottish Power they are increasing the gas prices from 17/10/05.0

Just ahd a letter from powergen to say prices are going up day units by at least 2.2p per unit & night units by 1.52p per unit. If I dont switch I am with powergen for another 12 months.Think I will switch to npower for a few months.
Is this the right thing to do ?????????0 -
A few posters on here would advice you against npower going by some previous threads.0

Dan29 wrote:If your direct debit hasn't been covering your usage though, you'll end up paying the extra sooner or later. Maybe better to pay it off at £29.29 a month rather than be hit for over £100 in one go when/if you switch to another company?
it is covering it thats the problem i have always been in credit and recieved a refund earlier this year, the letter powergen sent said that due to current price rises my DD would no longer cover my useage and they would need to increase the DD amount cheeky sods!! i have now cancelled the DD payments but will now lose my discount oh well will be leaving them as soon as martin says its ok.
but i did watch working lunch on thursday and there was an article about online comparison sites and that they were being investigated (i think it was by the office of fair trading can't remember) so they may be taking back handers for increased trade to certain companies0 -

i am with seeboard energy and received a NICE letter from them the other day, saying that i they were now putting my direct debit upto to £43/month as opposed to £20 previous. This is just for gas as my electric is staying at £20. SWINES0

I've just used 3 of the comparison sites recommended by Martin (Energyhelpline, Saveonyourbills and UKPower) and all 3 tell me, for my 17830kWh annual gas consumption, I'm with the cheapest provider (Atlantic Electric & Gas). Fine so far.
HOWEVER, all 3 also tell me that, for my 6155kWh annual electricity consumption, switching to British Gas (no, I didn't believe it at first either, that's why I tried all 3 comparison sites) would save me 14%.
As Martin mentioned the 14.2% British Gas price hike in the opening post in this thread, I assume that price rise was taken into account by all 3 sites - and I should change.
Or am I missing something?Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
