NEW ICICI Feedback Poll - Has it got any better?

I must be the exception to the rule.
Preliminary enquiries by freefone were answered in a few seconds and then fairly clear explanations were given. The set up procedure was very quick (5 days) and my initial cheque was deposited and credited correctly. The Direct Debit link was set up and subsequent deposits proceeded as expected.
It pays to read their website FAQ's carefully to avoid expecting something to happen before it should (especially the first deposit transfer taking 8 WORKING days to finalise). After that the normal 3 day Direct Debit timescale kicks in.
Shame they have cut the interest rate but thet are only doing what the others have done following the BoE reduction. At least they were one of the last to do it.
Sorry if this experience infuriates those of you who have had painfully bad problems with ICICI Hi Save but I can only tell it like it is for me.0 -
Applied for a joint account and sent opening cheque of £1. 4 weeks later nothing had happened. Contacted them only to be told that the cheque I sent had to be from a joint account and thus could not open account. (My wife and I have seperate accounts). Asked them to return cheque. 2 weeks later, informed by email that account had been opened for my wife and I (which according to their rules, so I was told, is against their rules!). My opening cheque had not been cashed and they were not consistemt with their rules about accounts. Now have passwords to access account, but there's no way I will use it coz I don't trust them with my money. Have asked them to close account down. Let's see what joyride I'm going to experience with this request.
Good luck to anybody who wishes to open an account with them!!!

No, you and me are one of a kind. As posted here before, despite my nerves after reading everyone else's problems, so far so good for me aswell.0 -
Again no problems, set up was reasonably quickly and emails are answered promptly so no complaints to date.

Martin
I applied on the 12th of July 2005. It was acknowledged with the request to send my £1 cheque the following day. The cheque was sent that day (13/07) and was cashed by them on the 27/07.
Since that time I have not had one single peice of contact from them. I have emailed them 9 times with no response.
Anyone that is prepared to put money with these people, regardless of the attractive rate is taking a massive gamble in my opinion. They will not be getting a further penny from me.0 -
If Martin is still recommending this account can he do us all a favour and read the terms and conditions to check they are reasonable? I know we should do it ourselves but how many of us have?0

I have to admit I was somewhat dubious reading all the feedback regarding Icici but I have to say that I had no problems opening my account at all.
I applied on 29th September and received the email requesting a cheque the following day which I sent immediately - for the amount of £1.
On 4th October I received an email with my Login ID and Account number and was told my password would be sent in the post, which I received this morning, so the whole process took 12 days from beginning to end.
I've just tried out an online transfer for a whole £10 (!) now so we'll see how that goes, but have to say that despite all the negativity surrounding Icici I'm very pleased with them. So far... so good :T

Applied online 30th September.
Cheque sent 2 days later.
Account details received by e-mail 6th October.
Password received in the post 10th October.
That's pretty good service as far as I am concerned.0 -
Applied last night (11/10), quite late at night. I got the email requesting the minimum deposit of £1 to be sent to them, early this morning. That's less than a 12hr turnaround, so it sounds OK so far. I suppose only time will tell if they can credit monies into my account as quickly as that.
As this is my first real savings account, I am really keen on this working out. I'll post back here with an update over the next few days.0 -
Thought I'd quickly update to let you know that my transfer mentioned in the post above took ten days to go through.
Not had any problems at all with them.
