Anyone else stuck in pending hell ? Applied 2 wks ago, still pending...

Seems that way - I only applied one week ago, but Amazon had my card and pin through in three days. I haven't even had an email acknowledgment from Barclaycard.

I applied online on Friday for a card for me and a card for hubby as we're trying to transfer some money off my goldfish card. I was refused due to the amount of credit against my name (10k with goldfish) but hubby has got one with a limit of £3500.
Ideally we would like to clear as much off the goldfish as possible onto 0% interest.
So to ask another daft question :
Is it worth hubby applying for another card with someone else with 0% interest for 9/10 months. If we get one then we transfer for example another £3500. then my goldfish will be down to approx £3000, then could I apply for a card with 0% interest and hopefully not be refused for the amount of credit against my name ?
We have no intention of spending any money on these cards, just transferring balances from the goldfish. We're just trying to pay off as much debt as possible.

Yes, it may also be worth asking Barclaycard if they are able to increase the limit - offer to send them bank statements/proof of income. Do this before the actual balance transfer. I'm assuming that he doesn't own any other credit cards?
then my Goldfish will be down to approx £3000. then could I apply for a card with 0% interest and hopefully not be refused for the amount of credit against my name ?
You may have to also reduce your goldfish credit limit so that the amount of available credit showing on your credit reports is lowered. It may take around a month (or longer) for your credit reports to be updated with the new lower limit. However, having said that, it may be worth holding on to your Goldfish limit for a balance transfer offer. What's your current APR on the Goldfish? It's worth asking them for an APR reduction on your current balance. If they don't budge, you might be able to secure a balance transfer offer, something like 5.9% for a set period. If it's lower than the rate you're currently paying, then you could temporarily transfer the balance to other cards (if you have sufficient limits) and then transfer the balance back to the Goldfish at the lower offer rate.

    Hello all

I'm a newbie forum poster but a committed money saver and lurker!

Just received my barclaycard with £3500 limit - apparantly I can only BT 90% of the limit so may ring & ask for credit increase.

I've read a lot (but not all) of this thread and thought I could help clear up the handling fee question.

    1) First go to http://www.barclays.co.uk/
    2) Then click on the Barclaycard link
    3) Then click on "View Summary Box" link about halfway down page
    4) Summarry box states, and I quote:

"Balance Transfers 0% for 10 months from account opening for balance transfers made within 60 days of account opening up to £5,000, subject to credit limit. No handling fee. "

    5) Go back to previous page & click on "View Balance Transfers Terms & Conditions" Link

    6) T & C state:

T&C no 1) "We reserve the right to refuse a balance transfer or to limit the amount that can be transferred, in any case the minimum is £250 and the maximum will be £5,000 or 90% of your credit limit, whichever is lower, subject to the available credit limit on your account. Should we honour amounts in excess of your balance transfer limit they will be debited to your account and charged at 6.9% interest p.a., until paid in full, with no handling fee.

T&C no 8) To qualify for this balance transfer offer you must transfer any balance within 60 days of opening your Barclaycard account. Please see summary box and the Barclaycard conditions about allocation of payment.

I do hhope this helps. I have yet to do my BT but I'll let you all know the outcome!

I've just called Barclaycard to activate my account and the very helpful advisor asked me if I wanted to do a BT today. She volunteered the info that there will be  NO BT HANDLING FEE!!

On the downside, she told me that I couldn't increase my credit limit until my account is six months old

Oh well it's miles better than what I'm paying now so I'm happy.

    Good luck everyone
