I contacted Uswitch when I swtiched as I receieved a confirmation email stating I would get £60 off a crate of wine with the cheapest crates being £109 I was not impressed!
I received a reply stating I would receive the offer as detailed in my email - eg. "A case of wine will be supplied containing 12 x 75cl bottles with a value of at least £50, and will be supplied by our wine partner, Virgin Wines." as per their Terms and Conditions.

I received an email with my voucher and surprise surprise I didnt get the offer I signed up for.
After contacting Uswitch today I spoke to a Team Leader called Tom who said (I quote) "the Terms and Conditions are worthless" after repeatedly telling me it stated that they were subject to change at Uswitch convenience, I had to tell him that even today the Terms and Conditions still state "A case of wine will be supplied containing 12 x 75cl bottles with a value of at least £50, and will be supplied by our wine partner, Virgin Wines." so whilst they are subject to change, they have actually been changed.

Awaiting to hear a reply but to be completely honest the guy sounded like a bratty teenager, was rude and did not even understand what Terms and Conditions were. I wont hold my breath that I'll get a useful response!

I really CBA to go through his all just for a few bottles of wine. I have sent an email off and had no reply, but I won't use uswitch again.

For the cord I switched to npower in december and heard nothing. I read this thread which said basically wait a while, but I think 5 months is enough!!!

I doubt I will get anything as I will lose heart and won't see it through.

Which is what they want you to do.

But it means I won't use them again. Ever.

I have to be fair and respond to my own post as I received a reply to my email immediately.

It appears the email went to my wife and in to the junk mail back in January. They re sent the mail and I ordered my wines yesterday and I should get them today.

I was able to order the 12 wines totally free So I cannot complain.

I have to say that I was really swayed by this thread, yet it turned out to be my fault.

So apologies to uswitch from me. You were actually efficient and I was wrong.

Can't seem to get the free P&P - it's charging me!

Edit: Scrap that, having followed the instructions and being charged for P&P, I refreshed the page and magically the charge disappeared.

  • I switched my duel fuel deal through uswitch - making sure I went via the correct link and was all set not to get the wine or to get one of those £40 vouchers that come with anything but a delivery van pulled up yesterday and handed over my wine and glasses and there was no invoice inside and no payment taken from my card. It took a few weeks from application because the supplier switch does too. I presume that means they have switched my supplier now. I had to give final readings a week or so ago.

So all genuine in my experience. Looking forward to a glass tonight :j

I received my email with the code with no issues. Logging onto Virgin wines there were only choices - 8 bottles with 4 wine glasses or 6 bottles. I opted for the 8 bottles with the wine glasses.

However, on clicking to confirm order it says "something has gone wrong" and I can't go back. The voucher is in my account so not sure whether to have another go. I have emailed them for now.

I had the same problem on Saturday but I rang the helpline number given in the email and a very nice man at Virgin sorted it out very quickly. He gave me about 6 options to order, including a mixed case of 12 bottles. They arrived today. Although I had to wait a while to get the code (3/4 months?) from getting the code to receiving the wine was incredibly quick.

I was actually just coming over to this board to say how please we were with this offer and our switch.

We switched back in November I think, we did the free wine deal and went from British Gas to Scottish Power, our bill went from £410 a MONTH to £160, and I've just today submitted our meter readings and it says we're overpaying slightly so it's going down to £144 a month.

Of all the money saving things I have done on this site, pottered about getting 10% off and buying things that were "£5 off your first order" and all that, this was life changing and we are forever grateful to MSE for pointing us in this direction.

As a member of "The working poor" class, an extra £200+ a month to spend has changed everything for us, we are not gripped with fear every time a brown envelope arrives or our son wears out his shoes. We're not floating around in our hot tub either, but things like a bottle of coke when we want it, or a decent shampoo not the 29p smart price one are back on our lists.

Oh and the 12 bottles of wine were nice too :) we never buy things like that - although now we can afford the odd bottle (but I'd still never spend £8.99 on one!) so it was a real special treat to have them come just after Christmas.

Thanks MSE, uSwitch and Scottish Power.
