Have the comparison sites been updated for v5 yet?

edit: just checked and they haven't as yet. I'm in a right muddle here as I moved house last week and E.on agreed that I would be able to transfer my current tariff v5.

Recived the contract yesterday and they have put me on v6 and changed my payment to payment in full. I was just about to call them when I came across this thread.

Please could somebody in the Manweb area advise what the new rates are?

Previously no standing charge my rates were

    Electricity
    first 225 17.871p then 9.093p

    Gas
    first 1143 3.235p then 2.574p

    Total discount of 18%

    Thanks

If the offers are OUT THERE, then only a FOOL would NOT take them up!

It is the UTILITY companies that are really at fault with regard to the Switching Incentives?

Plus with all the ludicrous PROFITS these companies make (and boast about), is it any wonder that that the Switched-On members of the public take up several of these offers each year?

If you read my first post on this I said!
Whilst not making a criticism of you for taking advantage and cashing in, it just demonstrates the stupidity of a system that allows firms like Quidco and the comparison websites to operate.

The whole point, which seems to have escaped your notice, I was making a criticism of the Utility companies for offering incentives; not those making the switches.

If you think that the commission payments you get, come out of the profits of the companies, then you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the Regulator approved charging structure of Utility Companies.

The commission payments, and more importantly the huge numbers of additional staff employed to cope with the customers such as yourself(who change and change companies) are simply paid for by us in higher tariffs.
My provider has so far NOT had the decency or honesty to advise me of this latest Price Rise ............... which it bought in a full 9 days ago ................ OR is this OK in the eyes of some (?) ..................... ME, the answer I'm afraid is NO, so I'm off to yet again SWITCH suppliers and I can foresee this occurring many more time to come.
This again demonstrates your lack of understanding.

Yes! it is perfectly OK - in fact a good thing for the customer!!

The lack of 'decency and honesty' as you put it, in not giving notice of a price rise is exactly the opposite.
In fact it is to your advantage if they delay notification of the increase after the implimentation date - the longer the delay the better. The Regulator has recently made a ruling about this subject. You might care to look it up!

Like everyone else I have just been stung by this. Make sure you send a upto date meter reading ASAP or you may find you have been stung again. As from when they estimate the new price increase from 1st June. I have just sent mine and its only the first one I have sent. JOE PUBLIC RIPPED OFF AGAIN.

Still haven't had the price rise letter but am told it should be on the way. I am so impressed with their customer service!

One small wrinkle I have found in my paperwork. Whilst the initial 'welcome to eon' acknowledgement stated that the extra saver discount would remain until at least 1 April 2009, the 'it's all done' acknowledgement stated the discount would remain until at least 1 July 2009. If I am still with them (unlikely) I will be holding them to the 1 July 2009 if they try to end it on 1 April.

That's what fooled me, I thought "discounted fuel until then". I then calculated the new prices of V5 with the discount angainst price frozen which has a 9% discount. It is slightly more expensive for me to freeze it but after the 2 price rises in 4 months I hope it pays off for me in the future.

I'm now woundering how EON are going to screw people on price protection deals. I bet the 9% discount dissapears along with my custom!
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

Just a little note, I started the switch to Scottish Power through Quidco earlier this evening, and its tracked through as £75, not the £62 they advertise. No guarantee it will stay that amount, but it could be quidco are about to up their rate. Worth having anyways.

Despite the price rises I can't find an obviously cheaper deal over the course of a year even going via Quidco. I don't think it's worth trying to work out if I can save £10 over a year when I can save that much a week on careful grocery shopping. There's only so much time I can spend on tracking down the best deals.
Quidco might well be labelled "parasitic" but the strategy of bribing new customers in the hope of retaining them for the long-term is a well-established part of our capitalist society. It's not going away in the near future so the only way to get even is to take as much advantage of those bribes as possible. Hence this site.

  • Just thought I should point out that energyhelpline have now updated the prices for the new E.On packages...

Mine is now £10 cheaper (still) than BG's Click Energy 5, assuming I don't change supplier for the Quidco cashback, and BG don't increase their prices any time soon... And that's not taking the 500 Tesco Clubcard points into account (effectively another £20)...

I wonder if there are any serial switchers, who switch supplier every 4 months just to get the cashback from the relevant suppliers, and if there's anyone who's switched so many times that the energy suppliers refuse to give them the cashback...?
Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...

How do new E.ON customers register for the Tesco Clubcard deal please?
