It didn't take many posts did it? It seems all I have to do is post a reasoned, polite answer to the OP's question, for the seething masses of those worried about falling prices to post vitriolic (and personal) attacks. Judge for yourself.

Shame - but I do come here prepared for the fact that some individuals will make these comments.

Do appreciate it would frighten those of a weaker constitution, though.

Don't make it personal carol, you strike me as someone manipulative.
It's nothing to do with falling prices, in fact i doubt anyone gives a hoot, massive gains, massive falls, who gives a toss. It's just the way you operate you are very unlikable and that is that, nothing to do with the current economic climate.

Recently I am noticing more and more spiteful and vicious remarks made to other posters, these posts are usually aimed at people that seem to be doing well, they have found somewhere they want to buy and everything is on track but them some j3rk comes along and tears them down, why?

Or if someone is experiencing difficulty due to current situations they are quick to jump in an ridicule them!!!

Why is it that some people are only happy when they see someone else fail?!!!

Brilliant Ali82! Less than 2.5 hours after you posted a thread which went (to paraphrase) "why are you all being horrid to other posters? It's not very nice", the thread has degenerated into which famous Nazi from history carolt has called someone (or not) in the past.

Jonbvn is right. If I could be bothered I'd create 100 IDs and thank him/her with each one. Unfortunately I can't.

Exactly, why do you think I'm not bothering, so far people have been called Nazis, Manipulative and Fu**ers!!!! Nice

Yeah I think people are jealous but jealous isn't going to get them anywhere, just get on with it and do the best you can!!!!

You never know what will happen in 10 years time, the shoe could be on the other foot, not necessarily in property as most posters are too 'clever' and 'educated' to make a mistake; but other area's in your life.

All I'm saying is DON'T BE SO QUICK TO JUDGE UNLESS YOU ARE PERFECT YOURSELF, AND NOBODY IS PERFECT

    Bye I'm off home

in my first ever thread i posted in this forum, my area i live in now was being slated, not nice for a newbie who just wanted advise in my current situation, my current place where i live now had nothing to do with my question. There are two sides as i see, the people who think the prices are going to crash and the others who just want to move on and buy propery now, like i said in another thread, if those people are keep saying prices will crash, why not put your money where your mouth (keyboard) is and noone on this site really knows how it's going to go.

As I've also posted elsewhere, buying a house isn't a purely short or medium-term financial decision, but as this is a Money Saving website, rather than a let's all have a nice chat about houses and a cup of tea website, you'd expect people to proffer advice based around whether or not it is a good investment ie moneysaving. Obviously, individuals have different financial situations and priorities, but pointing out that the value of what they're about to buy will almost certainly fall soon is an act of kindness rather than a criticism; no-one should make such a major financial decision without being aware of the downsides as well as the upsides. This applies particularly to those too young to remember the last crash, who may simply not be aware of quite how bad it can get. (And let's not forget - last month's fall suggest there is a fair possibility this crash may be worse than the last. It may not be; but people should at least be aware of the risks involved.)

After all, this site is about making informed choices. Unfortunately, because buying a house is the single biggest thing virtually all of us will ever buy, you'd have to expect tempers to get more frayed than when talking about the rise in a pack of butter or how to save 50p using some coupon.

I think that you are totally right about house prices crashing; I honestly couldn't agree with you more.

However, some folks still need to buy and sell houses and they are being savagely attacked for it, that's not just nasty, it's counter productive. When someone posts saying that they've just moved into a new house and want to paint the front door green and asking what colour undercoat would be best? to jump up and down on them shouting that they are the most stupid person God ever put breath into, does sort of take the sting out of the tail of what you are actually saying.

Then there is the good manners aspect; pointing and laughing if you do think that someone has made a massive mistake just seems cruel.

And you wonder why people pick up on comments like that.

Take it you didn't have the guts to have a go at BTL then?

I will probably become a BTL investor one day, to make money. But I agree with others and think it's greedy and sickening. Put any BTL investor in the shoes of some poor sod at the end of the food chain renting on a low salary, with repairs that the landlord won't do, and they'll agree it's unfair, trust me. People seem to shape their opinions and moral values to help their personal situations. If homes were thought of as just homes for ourselves to live in, we wouldn't have these incredible market crashes and changes like we do. It's all fuelled by greed. But at least I won't pretend when I become a landlord- I'll admit I'm greedy and in the wrong and will do it anyway, because everyone else is! I'd rather be a self-confessed hypocrit than deluded.
