No its like wishing someone would die because they drown puppies in the river and torture babies with cigarette ends. Sorry but I have no love for greedy buy to let investors.

My last landlord probably bought his properties because he wanted to turn a profit rather than through of any sense of altruism. He provided me with a flat is decent repair and took the financial risk in exchange for me almost paying his mortgage every month. How is his behavior similar to burning babies with cigarette ends or killing puppies?
  • i suppose its a bit like watching soaps like eastenders as seeing other people in a bloodbath of misery and bad luck makes them feel better about themselves and reassures their own insecurities.

Sorry I didn't mean to thank you I meant to press quote.

No one is asking you to love them, just speak to people with respect, if you can't do that then don't say anything otherwise what is the point, people just won't take you seriously

This is quite common on most internet forums IMO, some more so than others.

Other peoples success in real life makes a lot of web-addicted keyboard warriors realize how crap their own life is so they try to restore balance and self-worth by beating the others down. It's probably therapeutic for them.

And you wonder why people pick up on comments like that.

Take it you didn't have the guts to have a go at BTL then?

In brief, general sentiments as follows...
BTLer in trouble - don't even bother posting you'll be hammered

Seller not selling - price unrealistic hadn't you realised?

Buyers who bought less than two years ago in trouble - own fault for not reading the market correctly

Buyers who bought 3+ years ago - generally ok unless try to sell (as above) or MEWers

FTB about to buy - mad as a hatter as prices falling

Renters/STRers/living at home saving for deposits - best course of action all round.

    ;)

For me, its a public service to be negative and nothing at all to do with jealousy (what am I supposed to be jealous of, your massive mountain of mortgage debt?). It is clear prices are tanking in the housing market. If you buy now, you risk yourself deep financial pain.

Houses invoke emotional responses, whether you are buying, selling or renting. Because of this, some people feel insulted when told their box isn't worth what they paid for it.

No, I didn't. Sorry I was educated and understand vulnerability. Interest only mortgages, unsustainable double digit house price inflation, mortgage fraud, gift deposits, 100-125% mortgages, overvalued properties, self cert mortgages. As you can start to see now, it wasn't that bright jumping on the buy to let bandwagon.

there also seems to be quite a fair share of people who ask questions but do not like when answers are not what they want to hear...

I agree that respect is important - in how something is "said"
(and because it is writing, its tough, something can easily be interpreted differently than what was intended...if you see what i mean...)

There just seems to be such a lot of anger almost everywhere at the moment. It is so sad.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
