I am sure I am not the only person in the world who finds it hard to be motivated to write applications.:beer:0

But Phil, you DO have the motivation....you are leaving your job through no fault of your own, you do not yet have another job to go to, you will have very little income, you will have little or no social interaction (which I believe to be very important to you), you will have everyone on MSE mithering you to get on with it & stop being so self-centred!
You are right when you say you are not the only one - it is not easy, nobody knows exactly what the interviewer is looking for in their new recruit, but for heavens sake, do you not realise - IF YOU DON'T APPLY, THEN YOU WILL NOT HAVE A JOB IN 4 WEEKS.
Do you have anyone else who is supporting you in this? Or how about asking for help from your colleagues at work?0 -
Or is your sole aim in life to get to be top overall poster on MSE?
Because that is what it is starting to look like.
I am feeling as though I am wasting my time & energy posting to try & help & support you - you do not give the impression of wanting to help yourself.
Nobody can do this for you.
It's up to you.
Either get on with it (set yourself the target of a certain number a day/week).
Or just incur the wrath & frustration of those trying to help you.
It's your call.
Bye & good luck.0 -

It is pretty hard when I have never wanted to work anywhere else than the public sector and now I am losing that. There is nothing more I want to do and no where else I want to go.
It is hard to find something else when you are losing your dream. I would like a job with more hours than I have now and with a bit more variety.
I have no one at all to help me.
I know I will have no job but I can't do anything about it as I won't find another one in time.:beer:0 -
I can't even sleep well anymore I have started having nightmares. Just daft things dreaming I can't breath or I can't walk. At least I could sleep before if nothing else.:beer:0

Ok - this is the last time I will try to help.
Did you look at the links I posted yesterday?
How many of those jobs in the public sector are for admin staff?
How many are you going to apply for?
And before you say it, YOU HAVE GOT EXPERIENCE, YOU HAVE CUSTOMER-FACING EXPERIENCE, YOU HAVE PUBLIC SECTOR EXPERIENCE, YOU HAVE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE.
Have you actually asked if you can apply for any internal vacancies yet?
Have you looked at any agencies & made an appointment to go & register yet?
I'm sorry to sound like a mother (probably because I am one & my kids are both a bit older than you) but GET OFF MSE AND GO & LOOK FOR A JOB. You know what you want, now go & look for it. It will not come to you.0 -

Make an appointment to see you GP and tell them what's troubling you, that you can't sleep. If you don't seek help, you can't be helped.0 -

I fully understand that - I took a short term contract position in a Coroner's office after my mum died, just to get me back into work.
I loved it, but cannot get back in there as I have moved away from that town. I cannot get into the local Coroner's office unless someone dies! So I have gone into a different area of the public sector.
But I did it myself.

I am getting on with it and I have looked at all those links. Thanks, I will make progress.:beer:0 -
