Thanks... I'm going to get myself CUSC insurance.0

Clearly it's not OK to take out insurance for a phone which you've already lost, and then claim.
The policy would be fraudulent, and so would the claim.0 -

I want to warn everyone about "Suprercover insurance company", that if u send your phone for repair, u have to bear postage charges to send mobile phone. and this has not been mentioned in terms and conditions of contract. My mobile phone screen was damaged. I sent my mobile for screen repair and I paid £25 for repair. When I received my mobile, I realised that they damaged my mobile phone's bluetooth feature . I asked them for repair, I sent my mobile phone for bluetooth repair and no one contacted for a week. On their website it says they take 48 hours to repair mobile phone. After a week I contacted them but they asked another £35 for repair and staff was very non professional. I cancelled my insurance policy. Very poor customer service. So its not a cheap insurance. u will end paying lot more for repair. Be careful Guys0

Hi All,
I have recently claimed on my mobile phone insurance for water damage with Lifestyle Services group who have provided my insurance through my graduate additions account with Barclay's.
In the policy it states:" The settlement we offer for the phone will be based on the current market value of the registered phone or one of similar specification and functionality (where the phone is no longer available on the general market).
I have received a replacement phone this morning (Samsung J700) which is not comparable with my Nokia 6233.
I have phoned the insurance company and have explained that the telephone is not a like for like replacement and that it was not worth claiming on my insurance and paying the £25 excess for a phone that I can purchase anywhere for £30.
The reply was there is nothing that we can do if you do not like the replacement telephone, which I replied it is not that I do not like the phone- you have not sent a comparable replacement.
I am waiting for a telephone call from a manager who will listen to the original telephone conversation.
Where do I stand?0 -
The police advised me to register my phone's IMEI number for free with https://www.immobilise.com
This site also has links to insurance cover but haven't followed that up.
The registration is completely free and should be on https://www.moneysavingexpert.com 's guide to mobiles. If your phone is then stolen you can report it to the Immobilise Information Line and both the Sim card and handset will be blocked, just like a stolen credit card. You will have a better chance of getting it back if it is lost or stolen.0 -
read through all of this. great stuff! Martin recommended the cheapest, but the forum is where the real/decent tried and tested information is to be found. I'll avoid the specific insurers having read feedback on them!
I decided to upgrade my account with Lloyds to a silver account. I read their T & Cs - not too arduous - and it sounds comprehensive. (I also needed Travel Insurance, AA, card protection etc for me and my partner anyway).
I'll also register IMEI, set a limit on my account - just in case a thief calls the other side of the world before I realise phone has gone.0 -
My partner has insurance with CUSC he put in his claim for his I phone ( cracked screen) this was on the 22/07/2009 and it is STILL unresolved. he had to buy a new iphone from his own money as they do not stock them appartnly and at least 4 weeks later he is still waiting on payment. he has made over 10 calls to get this sorted out and to no avail.
I definatly wouldnt recomend them or there cusomter services no one seeme to know whats going on.
4 weeks in a row now we have been told the money will be in the following tuesday which when it comes around it never is.... useless...0 -
Re my previous post. I'm going to cancel my silver account with Lloyds, Instead, I'm going to insure with my home insurance - it's better in that it covers all those other unspecified items - eg laptop, bikes, cameras etc away from home. I think we're better off having this, than card protection, AA, travel insurance etc - we don't really need these things.
So, thank you Dacouch.
The only thing is, they have quoted about £100 extra for this at our renewal - but this is because we have had to reduce the excess from £250 to £50. So, it will cost us £20.29 to add this up to our renewal on 26/11/09. Our (rather pricey) renewal quote for next year will be £480 - buildings, contents & unspecified. (We made 2 claims in 2006! Anyone know any decent broker, who may find us a better deal?)0 -
Before buying an iPhone, we telephoned our home contents insurance - Zurich - to check whether the phone was already covered, or there would be an additional premium. The person who dealt with the call did not know, but promised to ring back later with an answer.
A few hours later, they rang back to say we were covered by the current insurance. After purchasing the phone, I rang with ID details, but was told they were not needed as the item was under £1500.
Two weeks later, we lost the iPhone!
I telephoned the company, only to be told we were not covered! I said I was not happy as they had given me misleading information over the phone. They said they would check and later rang back to say they had no record of any such calls.
Clearly, this was on the point of getting heavy. I thought that if I provided proof of telephone calls from my phone bill, they would have a record of the calls and I could demand to hear tape recordings etc.
However, there was a happy ending as someone found the iPhone and made contact. We now have the phone back.
But it still leaves us without insurance. It seems no one will insure against loss of iPhone. It's too late to take up O2's expensive insurance. Any suggestions?0
