Similar problem - I tried to open the spreadsheet using Lotus 123, and got the same message - this file is password protected.
try downloading the Excel Viewer, from what i can remember you still have the option to 'save as' so you may be able to change the format from .xls to a 123 document.0 -
I've had a play around with this, but what worries me now that I've put all my details into it is this... how do I know it's secure? How do I know it hasn't just sent all this information off to be stored online somewhere? Is there any proof that this is a secure document? I have broadband that's on constantly, so it may be sending all kinds of details away when I click "Save & Exit" and I'd never know. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, as someone's obviously put an extraordinary amount of effort into this, but where are the guarantees and the security information? Has anyone checked it?
it's secure because it's not an online document it's an Excel spreadsheet that's sitting on your computer (rather than the internet).. if you want to be double sure disconnect your BB modem and click save. If it doesn't come up with an error complaining it can't connect to the net then you're pretty save.0 -

This error message appeared once before on the other thread, it was rectified by clicking on the "end" button which is on the warning dialog box. The spreadsheet loads and functions correctly!!
Post back if it continues to cause problems, don't forget to include Operating System & Excel Version.0 -
After spending HOURS (truthfully) downloading the Excel reader and achieving only a page of "How-To", I'm thoroughly frustrated with this. Has anyone found a way to access the Budget Planner spreadsheet using MSWorks or Lotus 1-2-3?
I really do understand your frustration & appologise. I am currently looking into creating alternative solutions eg Mac, MS Works, 123 etc.......
I am working on an online solution as we speak.... :-/0 -
:What an absolutely brilliant spreadsheet - I can even get my wife to understand whats going on (or out!)
However - would it be possible to remove the password protection on the cells that are on the left of the spreadsheet, - the ones with the descriptions.
Although there are plenty to choose from I would be really great to customise.
I have tried to change them but I keep being asked for the password.
cheersWaddle you do eh?0
