there was discussion a few days ago about chaffing thighs. this year for the first time ever i have this problem. but i have found a solution thanks to some very wise ladies in another community i belong too. deodorant works. toay i fished my anti-perspirant deo stick out of my gym bag and liberally treated my thighs to it. i managed a 30minute walk in a skirt without any sticking or chaffing or soreness. much cheaper than my other plan of buying cycling shorts to wear under skirts and much more cost effective since clothes bought to fit me at this size wont fit for long.

That's a great idea, thanks pcl. Years ago, Evans used to sell something similar to cycle shorts, but much lighter, more like tights with the legs cut off at mid thigh level - I found they worked really well. I don't know if they still do them.

Wendy well done on getting through the week on Fast Forward, I think 3lb is fantastic! :D Some excellent losses in general this week :) Every bit counts remember.

Good luck to your two men (it is just the two, right?) in the rest of the tournament Petrichor! Keep us posted, some of us love the sport chat! Game 6 in the ice hockey final tonight, it's best of 7 and Detroit leads Pittsburgh 3 games to 2. I would love it to go the full 7 games... but after the way it started I think we're extremely lucky to be getting 6 :rotfl:

I hope you have a wonderful week away Efrieze! (Am I imagining things or is this your third holiday this year? Good for you if it is!!! :D)

Being disappointed with a 1lb loss isn't allowed on here Claireabelle :p Well done, and I've got my fingers crossed for your award next week!

I spent over £150 on the Nike website yesterday :o My current gym gear has done me well for the past year or so, but it was definitely time for an overhaul. I've bought two complete sets of all-purpose workout gear plus fitness gloves and a few other bits. I've been out running today and I was literally having to pull my capri bottoms up every few minutes - they are supposed to be skintight but they fall off my hips :rotfl:

Well I've STS but I'm not upset! I've been exercising loads and been really good eating wise so I'm expecting to see a result next week. Was a bit miffed this morning as I went to aquafit got into the pool AND THEN they told us that the class was cancelled:mad: . So swam a coulpe of lengths (that is amazing for me - no stamina) and came home and did 45mins on the crosstrainer. After that some new tops for when I run came and I'm sending the bigger one back as it flaps!:j

Well done to all the losers and STS's. Oh and welcome to any newbies I haven't said hello to before!
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

I thought I'd post up my running times for my first 'official' attempt at a 5km walk/run this morning. Last time was just a trial but this time I was a bit better prepared. I did laps of the local recreation ground (I didn't include the walking to get there & back, that was in addition to the 5km).

    Run Walk
    Lap 1 03:41 | Lap 2 05:31
    Lap 3 03:38 | Lap 4 05:15
    Lap 5 03:33 | Lap 6 05:05
    Lap 7 03:29 | Lap 8 05:10
    Lap 9 03:26 | Lap 10 05:09
    Lap 11 03:24 | Lap 12 04:59
Extra bit of running to make it up to 5k: 01:33

    Total minutes
    Running........22:44
    Walking........31:09
    Overall time...53:53 :o

I did this very comfortably so I know I can improve on these times but I just wanted to set a sensible starting point. I'd heard 40 mins was a good walk/run pace for 5km which surprises me because if I'd run the whole lot at the pace I was doing, it would still have been more than that, with no walking. So maybe my pedometer-measured distance is a bit out? Or maybe I'm just really slow  (it felt like a good pace to me when I was running).

I will try to do this once a week or as and when I feel like it, because I still don't think running is 'my thing'. I'll start by trying to get 5 mins off the overall time and increasing the running to walking ratio.

Edit: Distance was wrong - I'd done 7.1km instead of 5km! My time for the first 5km was under 40 mins. Yay!

Makes good reading missyg, well done you, I seem to remember a comment about you not wanting to run a while ago?

How far is a lap? MrsS did then race for life last weekend and if I recall correctly her 5km time was 44min and that was just fast walking. She is considering a 10km end of August and hopefully we will both be out Sunday morning around the local lake.

Way back when I first tried on a treadmill
    31st Dec 2007 13min 1.11miles or 1.78km @5.5mph so roughly 36min30sec for 5km??
    Today 17min43sec 2miles or 3.2km @6.8mph :)

Well Done again, would have liked to see your pants fall down though :)

xxlaurissaxx - STS is stayed the same :)
