Thanks Suggs. Hmm if your lovely lady can fast walk 5km in 44 mins, and your first attempt was <37 min but it takes me 53 mins
to half walk/half run then I think my distance must be wrong (no offence to MrsS as I am sure she is very fit just like her man!) I don't think my running is that much slower than an average jogger and I fast walk the rest too
A lap worked out at just a touch under 0.25 miles but again that was only pedometer measured. I think I'd better find a way to get an accurate 5km distance before I do anything elseI'll do that next time and report back. Hopefully the new Nike gear will have arrived by then :rotfl:
And you're right about me not wanting to run. I don't want to, reallybut I think there is something to be said for getting out of one's comfort zone and just doing it

Sorry - I ate the rest of your cake.0 -
Missy, the main thing is that your out there moving your legs at various speeds
I think the distance does not matter so much at the moment. Though I am sure the analysis part of your brain will insist on finding out the distance

Yeah I know... I want to benchmark my time against what would usually be expected of someone of my fitness level though, so the distance does need to be accurate
Running for running's sake isn't going to work for me, I will need to know I'm improving
If I measure an exact 5km around the local streets and then fast walk it, I will get a better idea.
I bet your lake run will be good, certainly more fun (and prettier if it's the lake I think it is) than laps of my local rec0 -
OK SCRATCH ALL MY TIMES!!!!!
Thanks to Map My Run I have measured the lap exactly and it's 0.57km (0.35 miles) so I only needed 9 laps to get just over 5km - and not 12 and a bit (I actually did 7.1km) :rotfl:
Suggs if you go on here and select "Hybrid", you will get a satellite image and be able to measure your EXACT route - you can zoom in really close up - it's so cool!I didn't realise you could measure anything, I thought it had to be along roads.
My time for the first 9 laps I did was 38 mins 48 secs so I am a LOT happier with that! That is under the 40 mins which I had heard was a good walk/run pace
Now I know it's only 9 laps I can pace myself a bit faster for sure0 -
Reporting 1 lb loss.
I'm a little sad about this to be honest. Everyone says that when you first start trying to lose - the weight drops of quickly and then tails off - but I'm being good but its just not making any real difference!:(
I'm very pmt'ish and bloated - so I'm hoping this accounts for it.
Well done to all you guys who have being doing really well this week :T!0 -
Meant to do this earlier...
Bails have a lovely Harry the hedgehog cake all to yourself
Please be assured Peeps that absolutely no hedgehogs were harmed in the making of this cake:rotfl:

Hi all
Well, as Efrieze said, I've offered to take over doing the chart so she can relax and enjoy her holiday. It's been an interesting experience, as I had to re-learn the whole process! It's surprising how quickly you forget things when you don't do them anymore.
Onto this week's results - well done to Serenity, who is our Slimmer of the Week with a great 4.4lbs weight loss. :j And well done to everyone else whether you've lost, gained or stayed the same, stick with it, we'll get there! :T
If anyone has been missed out or their weight loss is wrong, please let me know.

i have a great solution for the thighs thing - wear hold up stockings and insist that it is the stocking tops that rub, not your thighs. Works for me!
thanks for the chart lois! ooh, it's just the old days. There are soooo many names on there now, it's getting to be quite the epic.
happy birthday bails!!!!!
okay, day 2 of calorie/fat counting. Can see what people mean about having to plan things but yeesh! it's an AWFUL lot of work. I think I revise my original estimate to weeks and then see if i'm desperate to get back on sw. IT's amaszing how different things can be. I've made a lamb moussaka tongiht which would be free on red, counting cheese as a HEA - so i could keep eating it. Calorie counting means it's about 500kcal per portion and about 20g fat, so there are 2 portions that will go in the fridge . . . and then the freezer . . . and, probably, eventually, the bin. Isn't it odd how those two approaches can be so different, and yet both get results?
anyone else having a go with that tesco tracker thing? any opinions?0 -
