Debs3693 - I used to be a SW member and the HiFi bars can be used as a healthy extra so you don't count the syns there.
Had my second day of CC (calorie counting) and am already beginning to realise why I wasn't losing weight by 'healthy eating' alone..... I usually nip to Somerfield for some lunch and used to pick up a chicken caesar wrap and a pasta salad - sounds healthy? No. Now I am tuned back into calories and fat content I was horrified to find out that those 2 were 1168 calories........
So staring Monday I had a chicken fajita wrap and a green salad and used 430 calories. If I transpose this to everything else I don't need to be a rocket scientist to see where I was going wrong:rolleyes: .
I am really looking forward to my WI this week for the first time as it will be interesting to see if the scales move after sticking on and off for over a year. I saw my practice nurse regularly last year who also thought I lead a healthy life style and exercised regularly and wondered if there was some other reason I wasn't losing weight. She even wondered about medication, but I was just obviously eating too much of the good stuff.
I have tried all the diet pills in the past (good and bad) so didn't want to go down that path again. I lost weight in the 90s that way, but put it back on and more. I'm sure they mess up your metabolism for while too.
It's lovley to read how everyone else is doing here - so many inspiring stories.
Thanks
Lesley
PS Peke - you did well to lose with the Mirena coil - i read some chat forums about this and many people pile on the pounds, even after removal. I didn't gain a huge amount - it just seemed like a massive obstacle to losing anything for me. I must say I feel so much better since it was removed and fingers crossed the problems I had it for seem to be under control at the moment. I felt so bloated all the time and I was square fromj my hips to my shoulders - at least now I have got a waist back.NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........0 -
Hey all,
Just popped in quickly to say woo hoo lost another 3lb taking me down to 10st 1!
Off to the gym tonight. hopefully can lose one last pound before i go on my holiday!!
Well done all the other losers. Everyone else remember - what goes up must come down...

PS - Lesley as a fellow calorie counter i understand your pain! worst for me are nuts - v 'healthy' but massively calorific!! salads are a real pain too, the dressings are always loaded with cals. FYI Nimble wholewheat bread is great, less than 50 cals per slice!0 -

Scary isn't it! Dr Dragon was picking me up a nice "healthy" egg salad sandwich which contain zillions of kcalories because it was egg mayo! Now we pick me up either the free range egg salad one (about 200 kcals less) or a salad no dressing!
best of luck with the WI laterDo not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Hi all
I'm catching up with reading the posts, congratulations to everyone who deserves them, and to those who are struggling a little bit, keep the faith, hope next week will be better!Hello & welcome to new peeps too!
I would like to wish Bails a:T VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :T
Even though she is not here - but hopefully she'll see this on her return!
I've been over my cals Monday and Tuesday, but this happened last week too and I still lost 0.5lb by knuckling down the rest of the week. So I shall be doing 3 days at 1200 cals, and 2 at 1100, and keeping exercise reasonably light again.
This isn't my ideal pattern, I'd rather keep things a bit more even throughout the week, and that was my intention this week - but it was monthly grocery shop on Monday and nice to have a couple of extra treatsAnd my lame excuse for yesterday is that watching the sudden death triple overtime ice hockey game made me nervous. :rotfl:
