Hi - I would love to join you if I may? :hello:
I have been trying to lose weight on and off for 25+ years and this is it....
Name a diet and I have tried it - could write a thesis on weight loss and nutrition but never seem to have much success.
I have various food sensitivities, and have had some hormonal issues, and had the Mirena coil for 2 1/2 years, but after reading about other people's problems with weight gain with it I had it removed 3 months ago. I feel so much better and have been trying to eat healthily in a low GI way.
At the weekend I sat myself down and gave myself a good talking to. I'm 46, and wanted to be at a reasonable weight when I hit 40 and it passed me by.
The last time I lost weight sensilbly was in my mid 20s and I did the old fashioned thing of calorie counting and lost 6 stone in about a year. I am now back at that weight for the first time partly thanks to the Mirena:mad:.
I know I am not going to lose weight like that now!!!....but have decided to write everything down and stick to 1300 - 1500 calories a day.
The fluctuation is because I see a personal trainer at the gym twice a week and he felt I needed more on the days I exercise.
I would love to check in with you from time to time - this time I really feel it is my time to lose weight. For once I have got the exercise in place and actually enjoy it!!!
I AM going to fab at 50 :T
I have about 85-90lbs to lose so here goes!
Thanks

dellybelly wrote: »victory - I'm sorry your bootcamp didn't work for you, it must have been a terrible disappointment, but I'm sure brightonbelle will correct me - aren't you still WAYYY under your target? Why are you punishing yourself for a little fluctuation ? I think someone else (sorry, can't remember who) was advising you to take a gentler approach this time rather than bootcamp to see if it makes a difference - look at missyg for example, when she ups the exercise and cuts the calories, her body becomes very stubborn and refuses to part with the poundage, perhaps your body is becoming resistant to the bootcamp method now? Hope this week goes better for you and you enjoy your meal out.
x-raph good point, will ask them tomorrow if they have a fruit salad or something more diabetic friendly;) not going tomorrow now....OH working so will be thursday or maybe friday but not morrow:D0 -
Evening Ladies and Gents!! :j
Hope that everyone is well?
Has been a bit of a poo day today, just have had any motivation at all
Well done to everyone who has had good WI this week. I need to purchase some scales soon me thinks....again with the motivation!!
Oooh, a quick question. Can anyone remember watching LK today, a while ago now, and there was a woman on there talking about Portion sizes on plates? And she had drawn an outline for portions on there? Well, has anyone adopted this? Tried it at home? Does it help?

Welcome to Fitorbust! I totally relate to what you are saying with regards passing 40. Interestingly I had the Mirena coil fitted and have still managed to lose weight with it!
What I have found suits me is regular eating in a routine. I follow SW Original - for me the carbs allowed on Green dont seem to help me lose weight - I wonder if this has to do with my body shape (typical apple)? Since switching to a protein based, restricted carb plan a couple of months ago, I have lost 11 pounds.
Ive also stopped eating carbs in the evenings and Im sure this is what has kick started me again.
I now eat daily:
Breakfast: Fruit (eg: melon, banana, strawbs) and a mullerlight
Lunch: 4 slices of 400g loaf bread stuffed with meat, salad, beetroot. I use Philadelphia Extra Light instead of butter plus make the most of pickles etc to add taste. 2oz of cheese to make it more interesting!
Dinner: (before 8 if possible). Meat with salad or veggies depending on time of year, no potatoes butI do allow some gravy or low fat coleslaw.
It might seem repetative but I find that my body likes routine, and thats a thing that gives an element of control. I always have fruit in case of feeling hungry and drink plenty.
I know we have all different ways of keeping ourselves under control, but I have resigned myself to the fact 'a Healthy Way of Eating is for Life, not just for After Christmas!'
Have a Happy Week Folks!
