evening peeps - I've had a really good day to day
. An early start to meet up with a historical and field biolgy projcect group my OH is involved in: I'm an honorary member and get to go on the field trips and this is the first I've been able to make this year:j . Lots of countryside, hidden rivers,, damsel flies & deer. Oh and a chuff chuff train passed by - very heart warming- made me want to rip my red petticoats up
and wave them. Didn't start tipping with rain until 1 minute after we got back to the cars.
Tomorrow we hope to mooch around a back streets market in an old part of town and are out to dinner in the evening at friends - a very rare event so I'm. These friends have 2 allotments and grow all their own veg & some fruit.
PLG - yes, I never have fruit juice becasue it is so high in sugars, which leaves options limited when out for a drink as I don't drink alcohol either.
Missyg, thanks for your support re eating 'as I need to' when not so well. Yes we certainly must have many sports shops around but lack of energy on thursday, meant it was a one shop trip (as picking up new glasses too). Waiting to hear how you got on with your triatherlon (or have I missed the post).
Suggs - that's a great wi at 3+lbs lost:T . And fantastic that you managed your 2nd outdoor run. And to think PLg is now planning to join you all:j Annie - big well dones for enjoying your treats and then getting back to plan - what a break through (and a policy I will have to follow myself after the last few days I hve been indulging in. Day 1 on Sunday after tomorrows nosh I think).
Delly - your menu looked good. What was the sauce you had with the pasta, which appeared syn free? And you reminded me to try baked sweet potaot sometime again.I see you have discovered the delights of banana and muller light toffee yog:smileyhea Do you slice your banana into it? I really do think planning is the key: it makes such a difference to sticking to it for me It does get a little tedious at times, but I know I eat better for planning even if I wasn't following a plan. We've got HM curry tonight: chicken, auberine, carrot & onion and 28g saltanas(4 syns between the 2 of us). Oops, the kichen timer has gone, it must be ready. We don't have rice with it and find it is fine (so a red day meal)I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Hey all, hope everyone's OK and looking forward to the weekend
Suggs I didn't get to say proper congrats earlier about your loss! Looking good! You must be so thrilled to be under the 100kg! Fantastic achievement and such an inspiration. Well done on your latest running time too! Even your deliberately slow pace is much quicker than me - I'd better get moving faster!!!
Raph hope you have a great time at the concert! Cross fingers that it finally works out for you next week Suggs too! LOL at your trainer Raph - are there not plenty of places to run outside too?! :rotfl:
Oh no TagzRest up and let us know how you are before Sunday - and good luck! Same goes for you the week after Lesley
Well done on getting so much sponsorship both of you.
Hiya PLG, no posh trainers here I'm afraid but let us know how you get on with the chip thingieI just listen to my favourite tracks on the MP3, it doesn't matter to me whether they are slow, fast or anything in between. I even have ultra relaxing classical pieces on there! I don't run to the rhythm of the music, I just like to hear my favouries and it takes my mind off the actual running. When I started I was running laps, so I didn't need a timer for intervals, I'd just walk one, run one - then walk one, run two etc. I use the stopwatch lap timer on my phone to keep track of everything else
BB I'm so happy to hear you had a great day today! So lucky with the weather too
I'll post this message so that it doesn't disappear and then post up my "triathlon" times0 -
Evening all!
I've had a mega busy day, was up with the lark to catch a coach at 6.45am that took us to the Rosemary Conley Roadshow in Hastings took us almost 3 hours to get there!
Lots of motivational talks, and a good work out just before a nice healthy lunch, then more talks and a HARD toning session. Got to meet Rosemary who is tiny but a really nice person and then just before going home anyone that had lost more than 3 stone had to go up on the stage and we were given a certificate by Rosemary which was very unexpected.
Got home at 7 this evening , aching nicely and ravenously hungry so gonna sit here and much on a huge salad.
PLG when you said to Suggs about carrying the person it made me smile because one of the girls there today had lost 8 stone and Rosemary immediately said that's like giving me a piggy back everywhere!!.
BB I could go toffee yoghurt and banana right now too.Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0 -
Me too - hope the doggy is doing OK.
I'm a real light weight when it comes to running - all your times put me to shame.... I can run and jog on the treadmill, but in my Race for life next Sunday(the 6th) I will just run as fast as I can and see how I go.....
I am quite inspired as I have already got nearly £500 in sponsorship so that will surely make me go faster.
I have (or had as it seems to have got worse) mild exercise related asthma and this past 2-3 months it has been really bad so I have gone onto an extra inhaler. It's quite frustrating as I want to do more but when I start to cough I have to slow down.....
I think I got a reaction from staying with heavy smokers in the States early this year and it seemed to sensitise me to any other irritant passing by, so for the first time ever the pollen season has affected me.
Anyone else been having trouble with this this year?
Lesley x
A similar (yet oppositish) sort of thing happened with me. I've had hayfever since childhood, but spent a year abroad with virtually no contact with smokers. Now I'm very very sensitive to cigarette smoke too - to the point where I couldn't even buy a car parking ticket at the NEC once because I had to queue up with smokers!
I'm back on track with low carb today (thank goodness!)£2008 in 2008 member 552 £1947 to go! (started 20/1/08) Total wins £61
Weight loss since April 2008 - 14lbs a whole stone!:j0 -
BBelle, i often used to skip the accompaniment for red days, or have my HEB jacket spud with them. You end up eating spuds with the oddest of things! I needs some help from the calorie counting types please? I've purchased some chinese goodies from the supermarket for sunday night but didn't want fried rice. However, all the calorie counting sites are v confusing on how to get the fat and cals for rice! I would normally use about 120g dry basmati to make my rice. Whats the fat and calories going to be in that then? help!0

tiredness, stress and working 18 hours a day is def the way to loose weight:rotfl: :rotfl: we are decorating every room, trying to unpack, get settled, attend the school appeal with the proper paper work, meet the neighbours who seem lovely, kindly turn down barbecue invites because we are too busy and OH says they are food poisoning on a stick:rotfl: :rotfl: I do hope it all settles down soon:rolleyes:0

tagz - forgot to say really sorry to hear about your back - gutting. I just hope it recovers in time for you as this event seemed a signifcant milestone. Of course you have done so well to be up for it at all, but naturally want to do the actual event. Fitorbust - goodluck to you too. It must be a real buzz doing that with so many others. I love being involved in mass events: it makes up for having to spend quite a lot of time a bit isolated from society when not so well.
Talk of trainers: I've got quite a decent pair of trainers: went to a proper runners shop in the backstreets a few years ago, when I started upping my exercise during a better phase. I was amazed at the proceedure: it took about an hour of trying loads and loads of differnt trainers on and being scrutinised as I walked up and down the shop , from which the staff could judge if they were the right shoes for me. Anyway, they've been great and I wear them regularly for walking and they fit like a glove and help me last on my feet longer.
Sounds like you had a great day julesgr - very motivating I should think: congratulations on being one of the 3stone + losers:T . I don't know much about RC - would you be 'allowed' the toffee yog and banana?
kpc - yes we often are quite happy not to have a carb accompanyment to our red day evening meal, and sometimes have a jacket potato for lunch as an HEb. I certainly find a carb free evening meal very filling
Victory - hope life returns to normal for you soon! Good to hear from you.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
hi all!!
you all seem to be doing brill! just wanted to say well done to all of you with your exercise and training for mass events. well done missyG on the triathlon - used to do them when i was younger and fitter and they are very hard work!!
havent done any exercise yesterday or today apart from a few stretches - feel guilty. my dad has taken very early retiremen so i was at his retirement do last night and ended up eating buffet food (altho not that much) and got a big family meal tomorrow night too lol..ooh dear! havent been able to exercise today been on sick with migraine. think i might have to do a bike ride up the coast tomorrow!
got my fitflops!! they are really comfy from what i can tell so far! will update when i start to see results!Aug £10 a day £0/£10000 -
750 metre swim (30x 25 metre lengths): 20:04 mins
20km bike ride: 1hr 01:22 mins
5km run: 31:55 mins
My changeovers were 11 and 12 minutes respectively, I know this is long compared to watching the changeovers on telly but there's a bit more to do when you're on your ownI had a full kit change and had to dry off just as much after the cycle as I did after the swim! Before the run I also had to cycle an extra 1.6km to get to the park - that's included in the 12 mins but not in the 20km
I did well (for me) on the swim, but was hampered by the rain during the rest of it. Got thoroughly soaked. I don't usually cycle in the rain - yeh I know- and I was very timid on the downhills, difficult to brake when it's wet, and I was worried about the surface water etc
So I know my times for the cycle & run could have been better, but I made it round comfortably with absolutely no problems at all
It all felt great!
I'm now tempted to go for the next distance up which is double all those distances (that will take a fair bit more training - esp for the 10km run), but I will have to see what they say at the hospital next week0 -
