Holding on is considered bad by the trainers on 'The Biggest Loser' - they give the candidates penalties if they hold on! It is easier to hold on though. I don't do it though - I feel like I am going to fall off more if I hold on!

Just laughing at how fast your 'slow' was compared to my fastest.

Any news from Kennyparkroad about his dog?
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

My instructor said holding onto the bar is a no-no! As you wouldn't do it outside!! He hates to see people walk on the treadmill too, as he says there are plenty of places to walk outside! :rotfl:

I can run for 20 minutes straight on the treadmill (if I trick myself), but can only manage a run/walk pattern outside. I don't like wearing watches, so I don't time myself, but will push myself to the next lamppost or whatever.

Me too - hope the doggy is doing OK.

I'm a real light weight when it comes to running - all your times put me to shame.... I can run and jog on the treadmill, but in my Race for life next Sunday(the 6th) I will just run as fast as I can and see how I go.....

I am quite inspired as I have already got nearly £500 in sponsorship so that will surely make me go faster.

I have (or had as it seems to have got worse) mild exercise related asthma and this past 2-3 months it has been really bad so I have gone onto an extra inhaler. It's quite frustrating as I want to do more but when I start to cough I have to slow down.....
I think I got a reaction from staying with heavy smokers in the States early this year and it seemed to sensitise me to any other irritant passing by, so for the first time ever the pollen season has affected me.
Anyone else been having trouble with this this year?

Thanks for feedback everyone - it's very much appreciated :D

Suggs, efrieze and missy - well done on your running achievements so far! You guys are in inspiration!

fitorbust well done you on taking up the challenge on Sunday - hopefully I'll be in a position to the same one day (def no where near to that kind of fitness level at the moment - I'd end up gettting carted off in an ambulance :rotfl: ) Best wishes for Sunday - let us know how you go! Commiserations with the asthma situation. I don't have asthma however I HATE being around smokers - as smoke makes my eyes water and I hate the smell! I'm so happy that there is a ban in place now :D Unfortunately there is no such ban in Japan - however lots of places do have designated "cages" for smokers (rooms with glass walls - makes them look like they are on display in a zoo or something! ha ha!) I make a point of avoiding places that simply have seperate tables with no wall etc to divide the sections.

kennyparkroad - where are you?

I hope that kenny's absence isn't because he's not in the mood to come on here for doggy reasons? :(

Suggs --- almost half of your original own self has gone! That is awesome!

and would you believe it if I said I'd got one of those Nike chip thingies that monitor your progress - which fits into a slot in my extra wide comfy granny slippers?
