I've just been looking at my bank account online and it seems that for the last few months my bank have been charging me for going over my overdraft limit, £25 a time (what can I say - it's been a tough couple of months).
I've decided that I'm going to try to reclaim these charges but the potential problem is that they are calling this fee an 'Arrangement Fee'. I'm wondering if they've rebranded their charges in an attempt to avoid making repayments after the result of the Bank Charges Test Case? Basically exchanging the claimable 'Unauthorised Overdraft Fee' for an unclaimable 'Account Service Charge'. The bank is HSBC by the way.
Has anyone else encountered this? I'd be interested to hear anyone's thoughts.0 -
Hi there, my bank which is Yorkshire Bank is charging me £25 a day for overdraft (unplanned borrowing ) my husbands bank which is Lloyds is charging him £15 per day for the same plus £35 a month fee and my bank is charging me £25 a month extra too , is this legal ? We wont have any wages in until middle to the end of the month and we then have all the regular bills due too which wont get paid if they take all the £25 and £15 pounds due to them by then !!!!!! Can someone help ! Have contacted the local branches and they said there is nothing they can do as they cant increase our overdrafts while we are in arrears ! help !0

I guessed at the beginning it was HSBC, I have the same problem I have an authorised overdraft of £1000. and recently went over that in 4 or 5 transactions (i didnt realise and they didnt stop me using my switch card) so now they are charging me £100 or £125 this is going to absolutely cripple me and my family as i only work part time and my husband works but not on a great wage we just manage to cover the bills etc, they havent taken this out of my acc. yet but i know they r going to i'm not sure if they can or if i have a right to appeal it. if anyone else as any advice to help us on this it would be greatly appreciatedxxx0 -
Hi
I have a loan from the Bank Of Scotland with monthly repayments by direct debit. On a number on occasions in the past my bank has bounced the ddr and I have been charged a fee by BoS (as well as by my bank!).
Are these fees covered by the "bank charge reclaiming" rules and should I be trying to recover them from BoS (I realise that my bank fees are covered but not sure about the loan related fees)?
Thanks to anyone who can advise.0 -
Hi,
My mortgage is with the Nationwide bank, The Nationwide, has fined me each time my mortgage DD does not go through. So I have fined twice, once from the bank paying the money (Abbey) and the other that is receiving the money (Nationwide). Can I use the RECLAIM TEMPLATE for a refund of mortgage dd charges?0 -

Can I claim back "unpaid Item" fee's on an account solely used for benefits as an income. I have wrote to the Halifax quoting the Social Security Administration Act 1992 subsection 187 at them, basically they told me to go away, yes they can! As the SSAA 1992 does not prevent them from applying fee's. Help me plz sum 1....0

Hi All,
I have been using my account with Clydesdale bank for over 3 years now and until a few days ago was under the belief that it was a current account as thats what it had been used for. I found out it was actually a savings account and that every time i perform a transaction, no matter how small i am charged£0.50. agreed this is a small amount but it will have mounted over the past 3 and a bit years. Does anyone know if this could be re-claimed??
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Dan0
