  • Sorry if I am repeating PP, but I am lost in a minefield of info that is way over my head.
We bank with HSBC and for the past few years, have paid £25 for the Arrangement Fee of the agreed Overdraft
I have now had a letter saying they are charging us £75 for going over the agreed amount and £25 for Additional Services. Can I claim this back?
We Internet Bank and i check the accounts most days, so if we have gone over the overdraft limit, it has been for no more than 48hours. And we're not talking huge amounts, possibly £50-£60.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you :)
Yes you can reclaim the arrangement fees back

  • Hi, my husband has asked the bank for a list of charges from 2001-2007, they say they can only give him a list from 2003-2009. Is this correct as I am a little confused have read all the info on reclaiming bank charges and thought it could only be claimed from 2001-2007. We are in financial hardship and really need this sorting asap.

    Thanks

Which bank and have you got that in writing? If you have merely telephoned them then please just write to them.

Hi, I have sent off my letter asking for all the charges to be sent to me (I did include a cheque for £10, which they cashed) but all they have done is send me Bank Statements. I have gone through the "statements" and written down ALL charges and interest amounts. But the statements don't show if any of the charges are "account running charges" or if they are the kind i can reclaim. I am always going over my agreed limit and have tried for the passed 3 months to get in and see a member to discuss my account, unfortunatly they are "fully booked" and that's not helping me. I have been signed off work due to ilness and have been only recieving SSP through the Job Seekers Office of £62.20 per week, which isn't helping.
Please help as I don't know what i am supposed to do or which way i am supposed to go now.

    Sorry i missed a bit out .................

I am with RBS and they advised me i was better to switch to Royalties Gold to AVOID paying charges ............. So does that mean i can't claim back ANY of the charges ............ I think i should have just been left on the "other" account that i was on.

Which charges are you having problems with Katz, cos I am damn good and this bit especially RBS Group ones.
I would downgrade the Royalties Gold account immediately by the way rather than paying a fee for an account.

  • I jut recently joined the site because i was interested to see how much charges i was due back.Im due about £1500 without interest.Anyway that got me wondering about my brother,he is always in or over his overdraft,he's always been like that.So i went over to his last night and added up all the charges that we think he's due back and the total is a whopping £6000 over 7 years or so!!! and is STILL getting charged these ridiculas fee's,£60 £90 charges all over his statement for years one even as big as £150!! What makes it worse is my brother is on disabilty benifit and these charges put him in a vicious circle of paying about £90 a month. He is going to claim these charges back but he wants use one of those companys that charge 20% of your claim,im trying to convince him to use the templates on this site and do it himself.Anyway,is there anyway to stop the bank from taking these payments NOW while he starts the process of claiming?

Dont know if this is the proper thread for this so forgive me for asking!!!

On a loan taken out, i think i was unfairly sold a high rate of interest.

Can anything be done about this?

Hi natweststaffmember, I am having problems with it all :( All i got sent to me where statements dating back to 2002 (which if i had looked hard are on my RBS page, after i paid the £10 cheque) The statements just show me ALL transactions. I went through the whole 150 pages and picked out my charges, but they don't state what the charges are for. So i don't know if they are account maintenance charges or charges for being overdrawn/or bounced payments. There are diff. amounts all over the place. And i also picked out ALL interest payments deducted from my accounts, but again i don't know which is account interest or being overdrawn interest. To be honest i am thinking of giving up coz i'm so lost. When i totalled up ALL CHARGES they come to £2596.60 and ALL interest comes to £1078.15. Which really would pay off ALL my overdraft and clear my bank accounts (so i wouldn't really care if they closed me down :) ) I just don't know where to go or what to do. I know that sounds really pathetic but i'm stumped.
