Hi natweststaffmember, I am having problems with it all :( All i got sent to me where statements dating back to 2002 (which if i had looked hard are on my RBS page, after i paid the £10 cheque) The statements just show me ALL transactions. I went through the whole 150 pages and picked out my charges, but they don't state what the charges are for. So i don't know if they are account maintenance charges or charges for being overdrawn/or bounced payments. There are diff. amounts all over the place. And i also picked out ALL interest payments deducted from my accounts, but again i don't know which is account interest or being overdrawn interest. To be honest i am thinking of giving up coz i'm so lost. When i totalled up ALL CHARGES they come to £2596.60 and ALL interest comes to £1078.15. Which really would pay off ALL my overdraft and clear my bank accounts (so i wouldn't really care if they closed me down :) ) I just don't know where to go or what to do. I know that sounds really pathetic but i'm stumped.
I knew I wrote a guide somewhere which is on Legal Beagles site:

You may have to register to read this and I am NWSM on the site. It should be easy to understand and idiot proof(I tested it on myself ;) ).

  • I know the list is posted at beginning but wondered if this was general and if there were more tailored list for each bank / building society / credit cards as I am still having trouble with figuring it out.

    Thanks.

There isn't unfortunately but if you post up bank name and charge you are having problems with then I am sure people will tell you whether it is or isn't reclaimable.

Hi its several banks, Credit Cards and Loans, I already have the statements back a while ago, but I am not good with numbers in gereral and dont want to pay a company to work it out for me. CAB dont have the time to help either. If I can get a result then I can use the money towards debts.

    Thanks

  • Ok,. on credit cards it's late payment fees, overlimit fees, direct debit return fees(some cards will charge you £10 if the direct debit was returned)
Bank charges is referral charges, unpaid items, unarranged borrowing, maintenance charges, card misuse, guaranteed card payment, arranged overdraft(personal accounts).
Have I missed any that you have?

I think its best to start with 1 account at a time before I get even more confused and give in again.

    Lloyds TSB (Bank account).

Is there anyone who I can go to who could help for free?

    Thanks.

:o that'll be me. Ok. first things first is to get a highlight pen or just a plain pen or ruler/library card/ bus pass and underline all the charges you have. Next, post up the charges names and I will say yes or no. OK?

Ok thanks, but it will take me some time as there are 3 accounts to go through without even touching the loan  it might cause a very long post.
