pingpong ball in the toilet for weeing on...
and I'd stop the nappies entirely.. the shop ran out or whatever.. bribery with new pants for big boys .. and all those excellent treats big boys get that baby boys who wear nappies don't.. school, cinema.. and then he can learn to read.. so cool yeah!!!!!
Loads of praise when he does perform.. it may well be he is asking for a nappy to wee and knowing he has to do a poo as well so squeezing one out..
Stop the nappies entirely... that includes those stupid plulup things that feel just like nappies anyway.
We got a new book/comic.. and were only allowed to have it on the potty and if they did a poo we could get the next book/comic.. then the second week they had to do 3 days for the new book... and week 3 the whole week.. it was cracked way before then but we had to make it a habit.
Sorry about typo's.. fighting with the baby..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Boys are totally different to girls. Boys are bone idol lol.
I could potty train my daughter at 2yrs and she was fine within a week or two, my son on the other hand, I couldn't train until at least 3 years old, but even then he would still have accidents etc.
He is now 4 and a half years old, he has had a few accidents at nursery in the past (4 hours a day at nursery) and we were so worried about this, but the nurseries are very good there, and will keep reminding the children and they will get them changed if they notice him wet.
Our son also wets the bed at night - we've been trying to wake him up at night to go to the toilet, or we've let him sleep through in hope, or nappies at night, or even not giving him a drink an hour before bed time.
He is ok during the day now, but there are a few mishaps when he's busy playing.
For boys, the age of being totally dry is around 5 years old. All children are different of course, but this is the average.
My advice on bedtimes in the future by the way is BIN LINERS! You can buy matteress protectors but we've found that some of them rip easily, so we've got bin liners, cut them and spread them over the bed.
You could try buying shower curtains.
With my daughter we did stickers, everytime she wee'd in the potty she would get a sticker to decorate the POTTY. She loved that, having a nice sparkily potty
Good Luck xxx:beer: Thank you to everyone!

Can you explain a bit more? You said he was in cotton underpants for you but also you mention nappies.... when is he in his nappies?
Also, he won't be starting school in September, if he's only just turned 3 then it'll be next Sept he starts proper school.
In any case, it's just time to start again, some children do regress he's perfectly normalIntroduce a sticker/reward chart, only use nappies at night until he stops wetting them too.

my 3 yr old is also a nightmare so your not alone.
my eldest son was just 3 and he woke up one night took nappy off and way dry and night from then, no accicents nothing. he was so easy.in fact even when my dd became dry she never had a simgle accident at night.nighttime they have all been brillent, but they are all good sleepers maybe that had something to do with it. But my youngest he just not interested.
he is dry all night, he wears pants at night. he might have a slight accident if he doens't get out of bed quick enough in morning, but he can go all night. He won't do a poo on pot at mo, which ok that's fine. but day time. he just wets himself, he just says whoops. even if potty is next to him. he knows what to do, but just not interested in doing it. but now were just simply keeping going with the encouraging to try and keeping him in nappies. i'm sure he will get the hang of it. in so many other ways he is so bright and clever, but using potty , nope.0 -

He's in pants all day & nappies (pull ups) at nights.
he will be in school for 4 hours in September (which includes 2 hours of lunch club at the school) from the hours of 11am till 3pm.0 -

They start school earlier in Wales......If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
I've also been told to let him wet/poo himself in his pants to make him learn that the experience isn't pleasant!
I've just taken his pants/trousers off & he started to dance round the room desperate for a wee. He started to wee there & then & grabbed the potty & placed him under him....he wee'd in it & didn't budge!
I praised him & said he was a very good boy ....and he said "no - don't want!"0 -
But do you have a 'peepee dance'?
When emptying the pot in the loo we had a peepee dance.. and we sang goodbye to the contents!
Each performance for the first week or 2 got them a small treat.. a couple of chocolate buttons or smarties or a favourite biscuit.. like dog training really lol..
I don't think there is any difference between training boys and girls.. my youngest and oldest were girls the boys were 2.5-3.5.. the girls were 18 months-4.5 .. they are individuals and ready when they are.
He obviously know when he needs to go so persevere. I'd not have poo in the pullups/nappy. they are sometimes a bit odd about poops, they think it is a body part that is falling out so want to keep it.. explain to him it is what is left from his food after his tummy has taken the bits it needed to make him grow.. like his sprouts and his vegetablesand the dead dirty bits out of his blood to make room for new blood so he doesn't get poorly. Boys are usually intrigued by such gross things.. DS1 used to inspect his to see if he could see the peas or peppers or sweetcorn he had eaten because on previous investigation he had seen it come out just the same.. he has always been gross and he is no better at nearly 20!!
Bribery, cold turkey and rewards are definitely the way to go with potty training.. I got lazy and left mine until they refused to wear nappies any more.. but they were mostly less than 3.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
With the little boy I look after we started when he was 3 and half. I took him to buy some potties and let him choose (nothing fancy, just a basic potty in a couple of colours) and let him choose some pants too. From then he was in pants by day and nappies at night. I talked to him about the potty and what a big, clever boy he was to be using it. We got some smiley stickers and he got one after each sucess, along with clapping, cuddles, etc. When he had accidents we were matter of fact, said nevermind, and cleaned up - no fuss, no extra attention.
After 2wks he stopped wearing nappies at night, but was physically ready - had been waking dry for some months - and this was his choice - he refused a nappy one night and hasnt had them since.
We had some accidents, of course, and it was poo more often than wee, but these pretty much stopped withing a few weeks.
He is now nearly 4 and still gets excited when he uses the loo, especially for a poo:cool: but very rarely has accidents.
All children are different, but I think for him we were definately right to go for pants all day from the start, even though it meant extra washing for a bit.0
