I just used to hold the potty and let them wee standing up.
Certainly easier in the beginning as the soon as they said wee I was there with the potty.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

My son (2) won't sit on his potty and if we are downstairs and he needs to go I hold the potty up for him and he stands as if he where at the toilet. If I don;t get there in time it's been known to go up the wall though:rotfl: :rotfl:0

Advice required  . My daughter who is an only child is three in February next year. We decided to start potty training her last weekend as she had signs of nappy holding when needing a wee, role plays with her babies using the potty etc.
First days accidents all over the floor which we just mopped up and changed her into new pants and track suit bottoms (easy up and down). Didn't get angry. Toddler screamed her head off so much about sitting on the potty we have been waiting for the nieghbours to report us.
Childminder as usual from Monday to Thursday. Toddler sitting on the potty and pulling pants up and down etc but refuses to wee or poo. No accidents either. This means that she is holding in wee for twelve hours or until we put a nappy on her at bedtime. In that case we have a huge wet nappy an hour later.
Last night we made her sit on the potty for fifty minutes (how horrible did I feel with a screaming child) and she did an enourmous wee. (She will sit by herself on the potty watching beebies). She was really pleased with herself and got a big chocolate and a biscuit. She then said that she would use the potty for wees today but this morning ended up with a screaming toddler on the potty again.
Childminder is happy to continue training her as she is not having accidents but I'm not sure what to do? I work 4 days a week so the next chance I have to potty train her myself will be xmas which they tell you to avoid.
Is this just a stubborn streak that will pass? She does say that she is a big girl for not wearing pants and has told people on the phone all about her wees in the potty.....

Maybe she just simply is not ready to be potty trained! Children are individuals who do things at their own speed. Don't worry about what other children are doing/progressing. I would personally leave it a couple of weeks and try again without the pressure. Let her run around with no pants and have the potty in sight. If she needs to go and refuses to go on the potty maybe put her a nappy on and get her to sit on the potty to do the wee in her nappy and next time take the nappy off. I wouldn't worry about poos too much until you have cracked the weeing in the potty first. It is a stressful time, but if your child is getting distressed it is well worth leaving it a few weeks before you try again. Good luck!0

My daughter is 3 In December and I've been potty training for 2 months!!
I've not put any pressure on her at all, I've bought her a pink 'princess' potty and a pprincess sticker chart and that seems to really help, she loves getting a sticker and putting it on her chart, and if she manages to stay dry we chant 'dry knickers TWO stickers' and she thinks that's brilliant!
If she's having an 'off' day and says she wants her pull ups on then we just let her, but as the weeks have gone on she prefers to wee on the potty and will often just pull off her trousers and knickers and take herself to the potty.
I think the best thing is to just make it really relaxed and unpressured, and make a huge fuss when she wees in her potty!
Good luck!0 -

This isn't what you want to hear but - just leave it! I have 3 year old twins and despite my mum & mil'sbest efforts I waited until the kids were ready.
They sat on the potty every night before their bath for months but that was it. Loads of praise if they sat there, loads of praise if they wee'd...
They knew where the potty was and when they started going to get it regularly we stopped using nappies - by the end of the week they were dry both day and night and we never used nappies again!
Hang in there - she'll do it when she's ready.0 -
Sorry - a 3 year old posted my reply before i'd written it!!!0

Thanks
. I think we will try until the end of next weekend and then stop until I have three weeks off at Xmas. I don't to pressure her but am also aware that she has such a stubborn streak
. I get the feeling we are so close and yet so far as the saying goes.
