Yes, quite possibly but maybe not. My thinking was that maybe this was more of an impluse buy by the OP. They mentioned about having to fork out in advance for the drying cleaning whilst waiting for the money to be compensated back from the shop and that cash was tight.
I could be wrong but if the supermarket had not been selling candles/oils in the first place then would the OP have thought of buying them today and thus got into this predicament. I read it that she wanted candles, then saw the torches, thought that would be a good idea and then went to get the oil (sorry need to reread the thread possibly) and then the 'accident' happened.
If they had made a specific journey to a DIY store with buying candles in mind then maybe such a product would not have been put on the shelves with a faulty lid; maybe the store would have had a different policy for dealing with spilages of this nature.
Of course exactly the same incident and outcome could have happened and with the OP using the bus to go to the supermarket it may simple have been more convenient to buy such items at the supermarket rather than on a separate trip.
I guess my point was if the oil had not been on sale in the supermarket would the OP of gone elsewhere to buy it or was it an impulse buy which ended up causing this problem.
Aside from this, and knowing very little of asthma, I would have throught that the fumes from the oil would be potentially more of a problem when lit and the vapour given off than just as spilt oil. Therefore would it be wise for people with this condition not to use these oils or is there no harm especially as they are for outdoor use?The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
