Louise..never ask for feedback. It is voluntary and many people object to being asked to leave it and may retaliate with less than a positive.

On the third one the buyer responded to the dispute indicating they would pay and then I heard nothing further for 3 weeks before closing the dispute. Again I cannot neg them but they can neg me!! How is that fair!

Because if they dont leave any comment on the dispute stating you are at fault you can still get any neg removed - just give Powerseller support a call.

There is a delicious irony about business people like the original poster, and many others, here using a website forum labelled as promoting "consumer revenge" complaining about initiatives designed to advance the interests of consumers over vendors.

Ebay vendors who offer excellent customer service, don't rip off their customers or treat them with contempt, and can communicate clearly, are much more likely to survive than many of the chancers who flog poor value or stolen goods and services with mis-spelled descriptions and inflated p&p and who are at greatest risk of falling foul of the recent changes. Most of the poor "victims" have just not been trying hard enough.

I was about to thank you, then I read the last line. You're evidently unaware of the disproportionate effect of the changes on both small and large sellers, and the combined effect of suspending sellers after a % of complaints, etc, PLUS a massive encouragement to complain / neg willy-nilly.

I think eBay need reminding them who make them there money!

I am a small time seller @ 5 things a week BUT the new feedback system has come in and I have immediately noticed its impact.

I am getting a lot less feedback from buyers even tho I send a day after I receive money. I have had non-payers for the first time - who say they are sending a cheque and then hear nothing after asking for a name and address --- is this a scam? (I never give a phone no).
I have also witnessed a spike in really really slow payers. It is so frustrating.

I'm giving people a deadine of 14 days to pay - or just communicate! and then I will resell - do you think this is fair?
  • I have been selling on ebay for 4 years and got over 3500 feedbacks. Never had any negs so was at 100%.

Do you think I still have 100% now....NO Ive had a neg... no surprise there then. This guy bought something from me for a birthday present and it was sent to his work place ( his paypal address) and a member of staff didnt give it to hime for 2 days so he missed the birthday, even thought it was sent special delivery and got there the next day as advertised.

Looks like i'm now about to get my second neg..... I posted an order to Usa, the lady says its not what she wanted and wants to return it and wants a full refund and all her postage back and EXTRA money for me to pay for it to be returned... She said she will neg if I dont. I wont give her the postage because I fear a neg, I know I will get it, but ive just got to take it on the chin.

    Ebay are being so unfair....

Yeah, I know what you mean. Ever since eBay have introduced the new rules, I've suffered incredible backache and the cat's gone off his favourite food and my car misfires!!!

Is this all related? Well probably about as much as you saying your feedback from buyers has reduced!

Under the new rules, buyers are free to leave whatever feedback they want without the fear of a retaliatory neutral or neg. How does the rule change adversely affect the quantity of feedback buyers leave? If anything, the rule changes should increase the amount of feedback left by buyers.

A large number of sellers have reported the same, on the PS board as well as other eBay forums (fora?!)and my own feedback return rate has dropped from around 70% of sales, to just over 30%.

I don't think it is the new rules that has affected this, but now that buyers have to click so many boxes, buttons and pop-ups as well as typing a comment, it seems to becoming a chore to leave feedback. A few people have also noticed that there are less keypresses required to find and buy an item than there is in just leaving feedback as a buyer. Given that more people are becoming "internet impatient" - want to find, buy and receive as quick as possible, then I can understand that feedback is not a necessary part of the purchasing process.

What does concern me is that the Seller Non performance criteria is based upon feedback received, not sales completed. Sell 50 items, only 20 leave feedback, and one of them is a neg - the seller could be restricted/suspended. No feedback is the new negative/neutral feedback!

My story is similar to those that have already posted, I am a powerseller of nearly 9 years I have a feedback rating ( over the 9 years) of 11,000 positives, 18 neutral and 8 negatives. This makes my rating 99.8%, however Ebay reckon that it is 99.1%. My seller dashboard is not good enough to obtain a discount and yet everything is dispatched within 24 hours, items really are as described and our service very good. As for postage costs we charge around 20p more than actual cost, as is Ebays policy, but our rating is only 4.5. The idea is of course to include the postage proce in the listing thus gaining Ebay more money. We recently had an old dansette style record player for sale and stated as such in the auction, therefore the listing was removed and we are now poor on policy violation, keyword spamming. Ebay is becoming a real headache, it is my livelyhood but may not be for much longer.
    Loving the dtd thread. x

My rate of feedback return dropped alarmingly as well, but has started to pick up a bit now.I htink a lot of casual buyers were unsure what all the new pop ups and nonsense was going on about and opted to do nothing rather than do something wrong.

Keeping my feedback up is suddenly more important for me that it used to be as my one neg made no difference based on my lifetime feedback (I had 100%) but now it is only based on the last year that one neg has dropped my percentage to 99.8%. At the same time I have stopped selling anywhere near as much as I used to which means each day my positive score drops and I get nearer and nearer to losing another 0.01% on my pecentage. The only way to even keep at 99.8% is to increase the feedback I get. Obviously I can sell more, but I don't want to get back into that , so basically I am now stuck with a percentage score likely to decrease and buyers not as willing to leave feedback as they used to be.
