The ebay market place is changing, but for the worse. By adapt, you mean say nothing and go away and be quiet? We have invest time and effort into building our ebay businesses, I can tell you don't have an ebay business or you would understand the stress and worry we have at present. Our livelihoods are on the line here. Your smug comments are grating to say the least and show lack of compassion.

No, I'm just saying it is ironic that they're coming to MSE of all places to whinge.

I have no idea what Tamebay is - some kind of ganghut for failing and embittered powersellers?

As far as "obviously having no understanding" of eBay - well I and my money are probably just not good enough to bid for the goods and services flogged there.

Buyers and sellers of all kinds are telling their experiences, and they all have the same theme: grossly unfair restrictions and suspensions on a fatally flawed new feedback system. 'I have no idea what Tamebay is'....'Failing and embittered powersellers'.............'your money is not good enough to bid for the goods and services flogged there'?...............If that is so, you have no right to such one sided opinions on a serious problem affecting thousands of honest people.

I have every right to have one sided opinions, on any subject under the sun - including all those professional ebay vendors who up to now have been tremendously arrogant and inflexible.

The new policies from eBay benefit consumers - co-incidentally the prime purpose of MSE - rather than vendors. Ebay still seems to be doing pretty good business; it's just that the poorer performing vendors are accountable now in ways they never were before, and the poorest performers are dropping off.

Grounds for celebration for customers, and excellent vendors, I think.

I don't have an eBay business, quite right. Those of you who have such a business are being held to higher standards than before. Those of you who survive will clean up because your poorer competitors will give up. The rest of you should open shops and cope with trading standards and all the rest of it, or go back to car boot sales and market stalls.

I save my compassion for customers.

Erm, Dustangle....this is a real problem, your attitude is exactly what we face from the ebay hierachy. Do something else you say? Thousands of businesses are built around ebay and have been for years. With ebay killing the businesses off, where do they go now? Answers on a post card. You seem to have many.
The bad eBay businesses will probably evaporate, and the good ones will thrive. Of course you could always try to set up a rival auction site that puts the vendors' interests before those of their customers - you could call it "eBuyerbeware!"

You seem to be assuming that buyers can do no wrong - if that were true, I doubt anyone would complain about the new feedback system!

''If eBay want to ban me for life then so be it..
I will just get my mum to open an account for me or something..
There is always a way around it..''

Unlikely - if an account is terminated or suspended, generally, all accounts at the same address are terminated/suspended."

Even if you do find a way to open a new account (say, by registering your work address) you will start again as a newbie with very draconian restrictions eg - Paypal will hold your funds for 21-days on all transactions, you can't list using BIN etc etc.

You should know this because it's been communicated to all Ebayers in various emails over the last few months - however this sums up Ebay in a nutshell, really - it's having to be dumbed down beyond belief for people who can't be arsed to read listings and T&C properly.

Good sellers are suffering insanely unreasonable changes due to the minority of idiot Ebayers (and that includes many buyers) who need protecting from themselves.

I just had my first "feedback demand" where buyer asked straight "Are you going to leave feedback for me or do I have to leave negative note on yours?. So we got to the point, where you can't leave negative feedback for slow paying, nagging and rude buyers and now they blackmail sellers demanding their positive feedback up front. The whole system just got stupid.

Another thing that gets my gote is the DSR system. I'm getting lower and lower score every week for postal charges, to the point that if something doesn't change I will be soon taken off the search. But I don't regulate postage prices - I weight the item and check it against Royal Mail Special Delivery or Recorded table. I then post, up front, how much will it cost to ship. If people are unhappy with £4.60 for next day insured delivery of small packet then they are clearly unhappy with Royal Mail pricing, why the need to wreck my score, like I had any input on courier prices?

vOn, feedback extortion is against ebay rules so send the email and headers in to ebay and report the buyer.

As for p and p , are you sure you need to use special delivery on everything and are not just loading your auctions to feel safer? If your p and p charges are in line with everyone elses then you should be around the average which I think ebay say is currently 4.53 stars. if however you are using a higher prices postage method than required then buyers will mark you down. Obviously all my phones go special delivery but then that make smy prices completely in line with my competitors, my item sunder £36 go standard mail and I remain at 4.7 consistently for p and p and nothing i do makes any difference to that rating.

You are right to worry though, once you hit below average on your enhanced seller dashboard you run the risk of being dumped in searches.

You are assuming that these many 'vendors' have been restricted or suspended because they are chancers flogging stolen goods or giving bad service. Wrong. Just visit Tamebay to see the dozens, probably thousands, who are top drawer sellers who have had their ebay businesses ruined by stupid buyers leaving unneccesary neg or neutral fedback and ruining their ratings. The whole system has become grossly unfair, and to say the victims haven't been trying hard enough, you obviously have no understanding of the gravity of this appalling situation that has developed on ebay.

I have to agree, with e-bay setting standards for sellers, there also needs to be guidance to buyers as what is the norm.

For example, dispatch within 48 hours (this does not take into account RM transporting times), unless stated in auction or agreed between s + b. packaging fit for transport, communication given as to dispatch times, special instuctions for the item eg planting and care, explaination that you have left feedback and a gentle reminder to leave feedback when happy with item, and if not then to contact you to solve the problem.

I.E I have had a buyer who complained to be about high dispatch costs, I explained nicely that it costs me for materials and bus fare as well as the RM postage. She also complained that she did not recieve enough plants, I pointed out that if she rechecks the ad that they were auctioned as rhizomes(roots). I have not had any contact since. I am now scared to ask for feedback incase they neg me for this. This is in spite of the plants arriving within 24hrs of the auction ending, being in fantastic condition and me sending extra!

I have 360+ 100% positive, as a private seller I am really protective of this.
