Ebay Scandal

I'm starting to believe that the only good thing about Ebay is the ability to promote your goods or services, cheaply to a worldwide audience, using this benefit to guide potential customers to your website, and then conducting business away from the more restrictive confines of ebay.
It is very cheap to place a classified advert for your services on there, so its almost a "free" advert.
I haven't tried the Amazon Marketplace yet, but I recently read that the same products placed both on Amazon and ebay will achieve a higher selling price on Amazon. This was from an email newsletter I get from one of those affiliate type promoters, so I am not convinced of its accuracy yet!!
Maybe if Lord Ebay realises the potential damage this could do, a fairer service could result?0 -
I do have to argue that I think ebay make changes to bring in profit and minimise hassle. That is business. Take best match for instance I have found that one criteria is DSR rating for P+p - how can you get around this - sell your item with free p+p - what happens to ebay fees they get more! They even run special promotions where you can find fees free sellers - this can only be to maximise their profit.0

Perhaps they dont want bankrupt sellers
seems fair enough to me
What has me being a bankrupt got anything to do with it?
They were one of my creditors, yes.. but I have also paid them about £15,000 in fees over the course of 2 yrs..
So, at one point they earnt a lot of money from me..
I think your comment was a bit harsh..BSC Member 155

Not sure if Ebay allow this, but its just a thought.......0 -
The last ebay staff member I spoke to two days ago said to pray that I get some more positives from the outstanding transactions I had. 'Pray'??? What sort of business advice is that?
Pray that I get positives? And what if I don't pray, and get another neg from some idiot with 2 brain cells? That's me gone from ebay for good. And do they care, or know how to stop this? No on both counts.
I have checked on Tamebay. My word, the picture looks grim. There are literally thousands in the same boat. Ruined livelihoods. One particular man called Richard who is actually from ebay seems to enjoy writing on there, and making the case for ebay's change to the feedback rules. They are 'harsh, but not that harsh' he says. Oh dear. He has admitted it. But, like a typical politician, he will say that ebay is still great and thriving and fun, and fair...no doubt he'll be saying this even when he's standing in ebay's empty offices when that day comes when it finally crashes.0 -

You are making things worse for yourself. leaving positive feedback with a negative comment is against the new rules..if you do that too often that is more warnings to add to your account which means you will get suspended quicker. It is not just feedback that gets you suspended, it is all the warnings and complaints added in as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. noooo. the warnings you get and the complaints other people make about you count against you!0 -
There is a delicious irony about business people like the original poster, and many others, here using a website forum labelled as promoting "consumer revenge" complaining about initiatives designed to advance the interests of consumers over vendors.
Ebay vendors who offer excellent customer service, don't rip off their customers or treat them with contempt, and can communicate clearly, are much more likely to survive than many of the chancers who flog poor value or stolen goods and services with mis-spelled descriptions and inflated p&p and who are at greatest risk of falling foul of the recent changes. Most of the poor "victims" have just not been trying hard enough.0 -
For myself, I think it would be excellent if eBay went back to being a place where individuals sold things to individuals and business owners had to find somewhere else, but were more accountable under the law. That won't happen, though, because the cost of policing the business owners would be too high.0
