Seriously we went through a spate of about 5% going missing.
As a buyer, I'm grateful for information - neutrals and negatives - about a seller whose items keep getting delayed or lost in the post. I'm not interested in whose fault it is - that's the seller's problem and shouldn't be mine. All I want to know is - what's the risk in buying from this seller?
Surely, anyone with any business sense would take a serious look at where they are failing - in your case you were (maybe you still are?) failing to get up to 5% of your items to buyers. Negative feedback would force you to look at ways to improve your performance and reduce the number of refunds you have to pay back.
That's how the market works.0 -

That is simple not the case I was a power seller until recently - I made £2200 profit last year - hardly mega bucks ,huh. I sell to make ends meet until I can return to work. Do you know how much I have paid ebay and paypal in fees in the same period - £2100 !!!
So that's £100 profit, you only grossed £2200, if you can't earn within the system go somewhere else. Ebay's fee structure doesn't suit all kinds of businesses (low priced items for example). The fees are there to see before you start selling.
The fees are restrictive to a lot of sellers. Unfortunately some people inexperienced in business think if they buy something for £1, sell it for £2 they have earnt £1, all businesses have overheads. If I was renting a shop for £500 per week and was only taking £500 per week I'd be out of business in a matter of weeks..0 -

If they are taking no notice of the thousands of threads on the ebay boards, they wont be interested in this one. If the changes do not make ebay more money, then they may reconsider their plans.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

No it isn't. S/he said profit of 2200 not gross, & fees of 2100. Profit is what you have left after costs, so thats a turnover of 4300.0 -
Profit of over 50% of turnover, that is absolutely amazing stuff
Somehow I doubt that was the turnover0 -

If you were selling goods you bought & sold on then you would expect a 50% return - we do in our shop.
Since s/he is probaby selling stuff that is lying around the home & has zero cost then its not that good a return.0 -
Let me add my two penn'orth!
I am a buyer only, and have a feedback of 350 with 99.7% pos, one neutral and over 400 pos no negative. The biggest danger to me on eBay is PAYPAL.
Once I paid over 370 pounds out in one day via my verified credit card for items to my own confirmed home address, various shopping like Brita water filters, sellotape, batteries the like, over 17 small items.
All arrived in 5 days, bar 2 which came later. The postage was a rip-off on about 3 items and I posted this fact on the coloured stars available when u leave your feedback. I know post includes say petrol to get to PO plus stamps, printing and packaging so I know it will be more than the value of the stamps but some twit sellers use high costs to subsidize a headline LOW price in the listing to attract buyers, a practice I thought Ebay was stopping years ago!
Anyway, back to my story, 6 days after these purchases, Paypal decided my multi-purchase buying was 'suspicious' and restricted my account!
I had 17 sellers saying I had the items, or they'd despatched them, and paypoo had frozen their payment! I said to them SORRY NO I'M NOT REPAYING YOU, I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG, YOU HAVE NEITHER, YOU SENT MY STUFF TO MY CONFIRMED ADDRESS!
The thing is, PAYPOO asked me to fax statements, passport, licence utility bill to derestrict my account. I told them I'm NOT faxing everything needed to clone my ID outside the country, go to hell, I have the goods purchased honestly with my legitimate credit card and I'm happy, you're ripping 17 innocent sellers off.
The problem is, now the eBay system (being as it's integrated so well with Paypoo) has the items unmarked as 'payment sent'. The sellers, 14 of them understood knowing how bad paypoo is, but 3 issued strikes for non-payment, so i was suspended. I immediately appealed, telling Ebay it was down to THEIR paypoo, and explained that the sellers in some cases had e-mailed to say they would NOT issue strikes, but were only doing so to get fees back (the rest either didn't bother with me or we 'mutually agreed not to complete the transaction' so they could instantly get their fees back and I'd keep the goods. Most had already left me pos feedback and were terrified I'd respond with negative if they insisted I sent the goods back I reckon!
Ebay immediately lifted my suspension when I sent copies of the 3 sellers' e-mails to me saying they agreed not to issue non-payment strikes.
Anyway, paypal refunded my account the 370 pounds eventually after they 'completed their investigations' and I have it frozen for 6 months in case I initiate any chargebacks via my card. Of course, having got the goods I wouldn't be dishonest and do that, but after 180 days I can register a bank account and WITHDRAW the £370! So in 3 months or so I have a nice bit of unexpected cash coming in, and in the meantime am enjoying 370 pounds worth of therefore free goods AND still have an Ebay account of good standing and near 100% pos feedback!!
All I can say is thanks paypoo for your beneficial stupidity and paranoia and to teh understanding sellers for making Ebay such a great place for buyers.0 -

So you have got the goods AND had a £370 refund through Paypal?
Did you pay for the goods by any other means, or are you planning on paying the sellers when the refund comes through?<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Or just keeping the stuff & not paying.
Isn't that called "stealing?"0
