Take away the massive annual bribes (I mean discounts) and the over the top generous direct debit discounts, then you have a level playing field.
Of course if you want to be part of that type of business plan, up to you.
Do you know of any product or service where you could say the market is a level playing field? You can always find some way of getting it cheaper, usually at the expense of others who pay a higher price. Even the great John Lewis give good discounts on their shop prices if you know how to get them.
The competitive energy market is no different to any other.0 -
Gas for me is cheapest by £20 with Eb. Electric can save £20 with nPower, so says energyhelpline, but once I have factored in my own interest on money held to pay six monthly, then that comes down to £9 a year savings with nPower but with lock in terms and of course their terrible service record, sculpting etc.
You won't win chasing the tariffs, the Big 6 have whole departments devoted to outwitting you.
Like I say ,judge it on a level playing field.0 -
well i have been with Ebico for about 3 years, and for the last 2 months i have been feeling the squeeze with them, now they have written and said the prices for Electric have gone up again (they always notify me after it has happend, not before!)
I have had enough. they are no longer cheap at all, my electric has gone from £28 a month to £44 and I am using the same amount. I have worked out by changing to Britsh Gas click 6 I will save about £13 a month.
the only thing is I have a prepayment meter so will have to join on a higher tariff then switch to a normal meter, which I am more than happy to do.
I am sorry but I feel like I am being fleeced by Ebico, their lack of communication is annoying and so is southern Electrics customer service centre. it took me 15 mins on the phone yesterday to obtain details of a previous meter reading - I only got that after speaking to a manager!
I have made arrangements with British gas to switch today.0 -
You think SSE CS is annoying?
SSE is regarded as having one of the best CS divisions in the industry.
Best of luck with BG CS!"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

I've only had cause to phone Ebico/SSE twice regarding my dad's gas account - first time was a year or so ago after he'd been with them a couple of months and got through almost straight away (was impressed). Had to phone them again last week and eventually gave up after 17 mins!! Obviously not a scientific study in any way but is this how it's going with their CS now or was I just unlucky? I was calling at approx 2.30pm, incidentally so not a recognised lunchtime period.
Funnily enough, even though BGs CS IME is laughably bad, I've never been kept waiting for long on the phone (they often talk absolute rubbish when they pick the phone up, of course)....Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I have recently changed my electricity from ebico to BG click 6 and today received my tier 1 and 2 rates plus the value of the DD deduction. My last ebico bill covered 646 units so I have taken that as a typical sample. I applied the new ebico rates and also the BG rates and I will be saving £23.13 on just this one quarter.
I am very very pleased as I was expecting a lesser saving. I wish I had moved earlier as the supply will be switched in 4-6 weeks0 -

As long as you inform Ebico that you are changing, your last bill will be at the rates before increase.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
thank you Derrick, I am waiting for a call back from the pleasant young man at swalec who is ringing ebico on my behalf. Fingers crossed that I am still in the timescale0

swalec (ebico agents) did not ring me back. Oh well0
