Based on MY own usage (i do know this) BG click 6 is the cheapest tariff for electric.

If you can afford not to save yourself £58 a year then good on you but i would personally want to save myself £58 than give the rip-off energy companys anymore money than what i have to.

My point is that you can`t take what the comparison sites say on face value and to do your own sums.

above is a link for all regions.

So the quote 'benz' got for Eastern region is exactly correct(19.684/9.210p)

He is correct that using those figures it comes to £267.42 but before discounts.

Discounts can be up to £55 a year.

Yes I downloaded the BG Click 6 pdf when it the tariff announced but I wanted benz to state exactly where these prices had come from?

However on British Gas website the actual prices quoted are Tier 1, 25.380p per kWh, Tier 2, 11.874p per kWh.
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:

I’m with Ebico for gas and electricity.
Our last year’s electricity consumption was 2335 kwh. I went to the Energy Helpline to see if it was worthwhile to switch electricity.
Energy Helpline said our annual cost was £321, which is correct using Ebico’s new prices. However they said I could save £80 by changing to British Gas Click Energy 6, (Cost £241) Quoted unit price 19.684p for the first 125 kWh per quarter, and 9.210p thereafter The annual price they gave was £241. I worked it out at £267.
However on British Gas website the actual prices quoted are Tier 1, 25.380p per kWh, Tier 2, 11.874p per kWh. This works out at an annual price of £396, which is £75 more than I pay now, so don’t suppose I’ll be switching.
I’ll get round to checking gas prices one of these days.

There are literally loads of standard, non-online tariffs that would be cheaper for electric than Ebico even on your low-ish uage so it's a given that just about ANY online tariff will be considerably cheaper. I think your figures are wrong. Thay look suspicioulsy like BGs standard tariff leccy charges to me.

Well said Alared, don't like to gang up ,but, Carmine, you're killing a good company for the sake of a bit of conversation.
Ebico is a Green Tariff as well.

This is surely an absolute nonsense! How can one person on one internet forum kill a company?:confused: I do think you are overstating my influence by maybe a couple of billion percent here  Ken68, if you don't mind me asking, what is your yearly consumption? Is it low?

Ebico is not just about low rates, it's an antidote to the corrupting influence of the multitude of confusing tariffs from the Big 6.
Energywatch have reported that MOST movers come out with higher bills, no doubt helped along by the comparison sites.
How is your Quidco chasing going Carmine. Four times a year was it !!

It's going OK, thanks, Ken. I'm assuming by your total lack of answer to my question added to your rather clumsy attempt at having a go at me by deflecting the argument you ARE a low user? If so, you will of course believe the sun shines out of Ebico's derriere...because you are being subsidised by people who use more fuel, even though they may actually have less disposable income than you. I give to charity regularly..but i do like to know that my donation is going to people who genuinely need it.

I think Kittie's experience on this thread recently should tell you how flawed Ebico's business plan is. She, I know from previous posts, is a big supporter of Ebico and its ethos but like she stated the other day she isn't a charity.

you hit the nail on the head 1carminestocky and the more people like me pull out, the more the subsidiised users will lose out.

Take away the massive annual bribes (I mean discounts) and the over the top generous direct debit discounts, then you have a level playing field.
Of course if you want to be part of that type of business plan, up to you.

I don't think you will find many on here who don't work for any of the Big 6 (apart from one or 2 strange ones  ) praising any of them. My views on the Big 6 are very well known, I would suspect (but just in case anyone hasn't seen them I geninely detest them and would welcome re-nationalisation!) but all I'm saying (and I'm by no means the only one saying this) is, laudable though ebico's intentions are, they are almost as unfair as the Big 6 in that they actually only offer a viable solution for ultra low users but see no problem with trying to attract medium and high users as well, even though there are MUCH better deals elsewhere for these people. That, to me, is in no way fair.

PS As you seem to be ignoring my question re your usage, I checked back:

    Gas-9300
    Electric - 1500

Of course you will like Ebico's ethics, you personally gain from being a customer. The big test of your support for them would be if your usage was double those figures, I suggest. You can't blame people like kittie for going for a better deal elsewhere. And that's my point - if ALL those customers who could gain financially elsewhere did actually migrate and left only those that can't get a beter deal elsewhere because of their low usage...do you genuinely believe Ebico could sustain that price advantage for people like you? That's the $64,000 question.
