premier, I did dualfuel and separate comparisons. Electricity was far the biggest saver so that is all I changed. RE the amount, yes I got a comparison saving of £130+ via the switching sites but my own maths makes it £69 based on last quarters readings. I did input my 2006-2007 amount used ie 3326 kwh but I have made various energy-saving measures since then. The £69 is a more realistic figure imo as I don`t `trust` the comparison figures. I have arranged monthly dd for the electricity. No problem as I keep an eye on usage and costs anyway
My electricity use did go down a lot during the latter half of the summer months but I think I am on the minimum now, without losing any quality of life. Solar shower for warm water (warm sun needed) , not used oven for months now etc. So far so good as I was prepared to subsidise ebico with a small amount but not £60+0 -

Kittie's predicament on here totally backs up my theory about Ebico's business model, I'm afraid. It's entirely clear that to allow it to offer ultra low users a great deal (as premier calls it) it MUST charge average to high users MORE than what is available in the marketplace (remember this marketplace is dominated by greedy, profit hungry comglomerates but STILL can offer average Ebico leccy users SIGNIFICANT savings). How can this be if Ebico isn't charging these users more than they should in order to subsidise ultra low users? And Ebico is a not for profit company? Premier? Is THAT really ethical behaviour? And, if I was to sign up with my higher than average leccy consumption...would Ebico ring me to advise me I would be paying much more than with a competitor?Call me Carmine....

Ebico make clear what their business model is based on in their website. I posted this here also http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=15581135&postcount=120 since you thought it was being hidden from customers.
If you don't think offering the same flat rate for all as well as being a non-profit making company is not equitable, I'm not sure what is.
The name EBiCo comes from Equitable Billing Company.
From the ebico home page:With Ebico, our customers come first. All customers, equally. That’s the only reason we’re here.
For those who prefer their supplier to treat them unequally, there are plenty of other companies to choose from."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Even I am almost at the point of giving up on this one. Crikey. Deep breath time.
The flat rate billing part is ENTIRELY pointless if it means that some customers can get a MUCH BETTER deal elsewhere! It's ONLY good for those who are LOW USERS and CAN'T get a better deal elsewhere. BUT the business model ABSOLUTELY RESTS on some average to high users paying more for their gas and electric than elsewhere in order to subsidise the low users, is that equitable for those people?? And if you can't find any way of accepting this point, there really is no point in me continuing. If you love Ebico so much, who am I to try and convince you otherwise? But please stop talking about them as if they are the best for all people...because they are unequivocably not.Call me Carmine....

There seems to be a lot of irrelevant words written about Ebico in this thread. People should either use Ebico or not use Ebico based on their own usage and the area that they live in. If Ebico’s (Southern Electric’s) billing system was rubbish then that could be taken into consideration. However my experience of the different suppliers is that Southern Electric’s system is as good, if not better, than most of the suppliers. Ebic’s business plan is irrelevant.0

EBICO has to buy their energy from someone.
No matter who they choose it`s still has to be somehow linked to their chosen provider`s tariffs.
I`m happy with Ebico and also Southern`s admin.
They may not be the cheapest but they`re not the dearest either.
Because of all the underhand pratices of the energy providers and their many different tariffs, discounts and gimmicks,I prefer simple straight forward billing, accurate meter readings and pay the bill after every quarters usage.
I was with PGen (EoN) for years and every time I received a bill I had to ring them to get it put right, just too much hassle.0
